My friend had her catalytic converter stolen overnight in the apartment complex parking lot. I got a quote from the dealer for a new oem catalytic converter but it was around $3900 which was more expensive than the value of the car. Since her state has emissions every 2 years I got an inexpensive cat that will work in the meantime. So here is how to replace a stolen cat. This repair has gotten her passed emissions, the exhaust doesnt smell, and the car is now usable saving her around $3700. I would say that is a win!
