Hello sir. Do you have a video on replacing the differential axle seals? Do you know if the same tools are required to remove and reinstall the seals as you used for the pinion seal?

Thank you.

Dayton Carter says:

Hey @BIY Garage I had a leaky diff multiple times on my ATS. The issue was ultimately the vent! It was clogged and pressure was causing leaks. Check your diff vent!

Clay Whitney says:

just a tip if you hold the start button WITHOUT touching the brake pedal the ignition will come on and you can take it out of park instead of taking the interior apart.

Jeremy Burris says:

thank you so much for taking all the extra time videotaping this. probably added an hour to your repair.

Thanks for posting this. Bought my ATS last year with 19k miles on the clock. Noticed differential was wet with fluid so took it to dealer to have axle seals replaced. (It was still on warranty.) Looked at diff yesterday — less than eleven months and 14k miles later — and diff is all wet again. Noticed drips on garage floor, and I just know it's been leaking for several months and several k miles. NOTE: I do not know if it's the axle seals or the pinion seal at this point. I need to jack it up and take a look. Either way, I have to ask myself how long has GM been making differentials? Yeah, I know … a long time, and you'd think they'd know how to keep them from leaking, but apparently not. Your video here has given me a bit of confidence, if mine is the pinion seal, to do this job myself. Very helpful.
