Cadillac no start, no crank, intermittent problem

1991 Cadillac DeVille 4.9L no start, no crank, intermittent problem. I forgot to mention that I also bypassed the ignition circuit by bridging the two poles …

Hope that fixes it. Keep us informed and very welcomed.

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Check for spark as well as fuel delivery. If your getting both might want
to check compression and the timing. Seeing that it’s cranking leads me to
believe it’s not the switch, but something else.

OreliaLatrice says:

No problem you are welcome. These cars can be tricky sometimes & it’s hard
playing the guessing game. Yeah, I know right. The more money that the
parts company can get out of you the better for them but not so for us.

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Sorry to hear. Hopefully he’s not in business anymore. Got lots of part
changers around here, and people with the same horror stories which I hate
hearing since properly doing things doesn’t take much more time the
changing parts out hoping to fix it.

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Be careful also when bypassing the switch in case the car would lunge
forward.

I have a 1995 Cadillac Deville and had the fuel pump replaced 2x! And now
the car just stopped working again and won’t start…I was thinking it was
the fuel filter but after seeing your video I believe it is the safety
switch as well..thank you.

Brad Blake says:

thank you sooo much for the video… because my 92 deville daily driver
just stalled in my driveway after coming back from the movie theater which
is about 20 miles from my home. I am pulling an E91 trouble code which is
the neutral safety switch. I guess I will have to have it towed to the
dealer , and have them install one.

freakzilla445 says:

Wait a minute…that safety switch can cause the car to not start?….I
really need help bro. I have the same car and I just changed the fuel pump
and filter, spark plug and wires, new battery. It only cranks and its
really pissing me off. HELP PLEASE!

victor landeros says:

I should have seen this A LONG TIME AGO…but his video wasn’t up yet… mu
mom had a 92 Deville just like that, it had the same problem, that darn
safety switch…after 2000 bucks later we found out it was the safety
switch…here’s the list of what the mechanic changed. 1.fuel pump w/
filter. 2. ignition switch w/ new key from Cadillac. 3. starter. 4.
battery. 5.spark plugs and wires. all that for 2000 bucks, then my mom
sells the car for 600 bucks, it made me cry!

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Did he have the car in neutral when he installed it? Also could need
adjusted. You could try bypassing it to see if the starter could be bad
also. Those would be the quick ones to try out before testing out other
spots.

girlcolburn says:

My buddy tried replacing the nss, but that didn’t work. He’s workin on a 94
cadillac deville v8. Car won’t a shift to park, but will shift to all other
gears, and won’t start even in neutral position. Got any ideas?

OreliaLatrice says:

Well my 1995 Cadillac Deville is fixed now. It was not the neutral safety
switch…a small part that is connected to the fuel pump(but does not come
with the fuel pump).. I forgot the name of it but they said that this
little part is connected to the fuel pump, electrical system, etc.
basically all the major parts of the car. This little part was burnt
out..and has been replaced..car runs perfect now! 🙂

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Your welcomed.

Brad Blake says:

I am just in the process of doing this exact thing to my 92 deville. Do
you know where I could order a safety neutral switch on line? thanks Brad.

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Glad to here everything is working good now. Thanks for that information as
it could also help with others in that situation. Gotta love the parts
companies for being stingy and not having that part with the pump lol.

SYNTHETICDARKNESSRX8 says:

Also check the battery and terminals to make sure you have good connections
and voltage.
