It should be about the same, I have not worked on a 1998 yet. The Factory
Service Manual for my 2003 states to remove the joints too.

rather not deal with removing ball joints like some other instructions I’ve
found online say to do.

I did this job over the weekend and it worked exactly the same on my ’98.
Thanks for this video, removing those strut bolts are way easier than
prying out the ball joint.
