An FM transmitter would be so much simpler. If they are legal in your state.
I thought about a new radio but the problem is that my car’s dash has an
information display that I want to keep. Replacing the radio means getting
rid of that display. I’ve seen people mod it so it can stay but it’s way
more work than I’m interested in.

I want to do this to my cts then add a bluetooth module with a 3.5 mm jack
and connect it to this. That way I can have bluetooth music iheart radio
and not risk getting an aftermarket stereo stolen. besides they look ugly

Had a similar dilemma with the stock radio in my 03 Hyundai. No aux input
and got feed up dealing with the FM Transmitter. Main purpose was to get an
aux input for my car to listen to my podcasts, but it’s unbelievable what
an after market radio can do to improve the sound in your car as well.
Ordered a new radio from Crutchfield and installed it myself with their
step-by-step instructions that come included with the radio. All for
$140.00. Could be a better option. Cool project though.
Well, the schematic is particular to my car’s wiring. I suspect that it
could be changed to work in other vehicles but I’m not sure how that would
work.
I actually have one installed in my car – I was using it for my Satellite
radio. Just thought it would be cool to have an AUX in.

Circuit will actually be providing input to the head-unit, not the speakers
directly. I’ll be cutting existing input lines (from some other source) and
splicing this in place. So no worries of burning my phone up. — BUT — You
bring up a good point on the solid wire. I didn’t even think about that!
Car wiring is not something I do everyday. Thanks for the pointing it out.
I guess I’m rebuilding the circuit with new wire!
you are doing two things rong, in a car you always need to ude stranded
wire and, you are going to blow your phone’s amp up, it is made to drive a
low watige speaker <1w but you are going to drive over 25 watts per chanel.

I thought about just changing my head unit but I don;t want to lose the
info-screen. If it was it another spot, I probably would have replaced my
radio a while ago. For now though, I’m going to try this and see how it
works. I considered a bluetooth setup (I might still do it if I find one
cheap enough)
