Billy Loughridge says:

I’m thinking about buying a 2001 Seville SLS with 124,000 miles. Is there
anything I should be concerned about?

anthony binford says:

I have a 97 seville, and getting the motor replaced in it as of now,it had a
headgasket problem, but it never ran hot, don’t understand it, because I had
other cars that had headgasket problems and I couldn’t make it down the
street without putting water in it.Don’t understand that. These are some
strong motors.

MusiikN0w says:

hi, im looking at buying a 96 cadillac deville for 450 dollars. It has
130,000 miles and the people are selling it because it needs a new water
pump and water pump housing. I have found the part and its 200 dollars.
BUT.. what would cause the housing to produce a small crack ? there friends
of the family and they have put over 2000 dollars into it. All new hoses,
radiator, brake lines… etc. Is it worth to take a chance at 450 dollars?
need some input thanks!

Travis Brooks says:

I own a 99 sls, and you covered every common issue this model has. Great
informative info.

Christina Jenson says:

I have a 97 Deville and I installed 1990 Crown Vic Suspension and never had
problems :)

Jason Geisendorff says:

Do the replacement speakers have to necessary have to be Bose?

Edgar Vasquez says:

Fuck I should of watch this video before I bought my cadillac :/

husman57 says:

we have a 1990 deville and need to know how to remove the heater core

Evan Kruger says:

I have an 02 sts and I have had problems with the shocks and putting fix a
flat in them seems to be a temporary fix but they will go back down over
time

InfirmityBand says:

Recently purchased a 2004 Seville SLS and loving it! Bought it from some
old Asian guy for $3,600 with only 83K miles on the odometer, fresh looking
and well kept with no issue.

Terecia Hunter says:

I have a 1989 Seville STS and I need to know how to tighten the passenger
outside mirror.. It is kind of loose

mikestubeful says:

It not about being ignorant about the cost or anything like that. Its that
there are certain things that should not happen with any car that does on a
Northstar. The consumer shouldnt have to worry about headgaskets. That
should not be a trademark problem on a car that is or was high end. The
engineering should have covered that well. Or the fact that the fron end
lower controls are aluminum and light for the heavy car a caddy is. The
relience on vacum for the idle and sensors. Its one of the most difficult
cars to trace problems. It shouldnt be for the price. The car should be
designed to have the vacum go through hare parts instead of rumbber hoses
etc. Its not the money its the durability problems and things you shpuldntr
have to inquire about owning one. I own 3 cadillacs , my 2004 has over
280,000 miles . But its been a bumpy road. Dont forget the emissions could
be more user friendly so to speak. Cant pass you cant drive and they are
difficult even when a repair is made

1995RangeRover says:

Very informative. Thanks for sharing!

Sydney Peritz says:

My mom has a 90 DeVille and it’s the smoothest ride I’ve ever felt. Still
purrs at over 200,000. Too bad they don’t make ’em like the older ones any
more.

Sydney Peritz says:

I have an 02 Seville STS with barely over 100,000 mi. on it. Rides a
little rough but the performance is great. Replaced the large radiator hose
because it rubbed on the inside of the left fender so my b/f put a spacer
to prevent wear. Never been a fan of plastic “chrome” with clips instead of
real chrome with welds. Trim pieces pop off sometimes but as far as the
Northstar engine? Never had a problem and has never over-heated. Still
purrs at the med-high milage…I keep oil changed and clean.

Sydney Peritz says:

They ARE ignorant Ryan! Anybody who thinks you can own a high-end car like
a Caddy and incur the same maintenance and repair costs as Toyota or Honda
should get a reality check and a tune-up on their brain! My Dream-Car,
Jaguar XJS, I’ve heard has even MORE issues but that won’t stop me once I’m
able to afford the beauty. (Pre-owned of course)

Albee213 says:

If you ever want to buy one, make sure the head gasket is not blown, I have
two Deville’s one 99 with 89,000 with a blown head gasket and it runs
PERFECT, but once you drive up a hill the temp climes fast and then you get
the overheating warning. We pulled the engine and the bolts on the side
that blew were drilled crooked from the factory. The other is a 98 and it
runs perfectly, just did a list of maintenance on it and its going strong
with 79k.

Albee213 says:

I have a 98 Deville and smelled coolant when it heated up fully and found
that some of the coolant hoses needed to be replaced but I still smelled it
sometimes and then I gave up and dropped it off to the dealer, well they
found that the water pump housing was leaking just a little but, had them
reseal it ($350 labor, $50 parts) and its gone. This is hard to detect
unless you bleed the air out of the system becuase as the engine looses
water it will not show in the overflow container.

Sydney Peritz says:

no kidding! I don’t understand why pple keep having kids and increasing the
over-populated (6 bil) world. I’m 1 of the smarter ones that wasn’t selfish
and refrained from having kids…1 day, given my finances hold up, I might
adopt 1 or 2 “already made” kids and give them a loving home. My message to
everybody else? “QUIT BREEDING!!!” (lol)

Ryan Nelson says:

Yeah that’s what I would do with the shocks but be warned if you go that
route you loose your road sensing suspension. But if you have an ’01+ SLS
you don’t have to worry about that. I’m not sure of the brand to get though
so do some research on the Cadillac Forums and you’ll have your answer.

Tigerfire75 says:

Well how many have blown head gaskets? How many have they made? I mean sure
you hear a lot about head gaskets but then if nothing is wrong most people
won’t mention it.

Quinten Robinson says:

Ha, I thought you sounded like a NC dude! I live in Havelock & go to ECU.
Go figure! Anywho, I found an ’03 STS in Jacksonville with 58k miles for
$7950 at Hix Motor Co.; might go have a look at it on Friday. Thanks for
the info!

Quinten Robinson says:

Yeah, that blue is beautiful. I only hope I can manage to get it in my
driveway if its impression is good! Haha. I’ll update you on any
developments. Nice catch with the Deville, btw; I’m sure it’ll keep you
happy for a good few years at least!

fastrace011 says:

I had a 95 Crown Vic 287,000 miles totaled. I see Northstar Cadillacs all
day long on Craig’s list and car auctions with “needs thermostat”, which
really means head gaskets. If it wasn’t for the head gaskets problems then
maybe.

justin bouche says:

AZGUNS90 = idiot, not sure why people are like that.

Ryan Nelson says:

My BMW has been much more reliable than my Cadillac. I wouldn’t say I’m a
slave to my car I just keep it maintained. All luxury cars require some
amounts of money to keep on the road. You gotta pay to play, otherwise I’d
be driving a Honda or Toyota.

Gmanx4536 says:

96 STS also my power steering was funky spent about a grand fixing it. went
RAAAA when i turned esp all the way. My bottom break lights got water in
them. I drilled a pin sized hole and it drained just fine comp to 500 a
headlight. I LOVED that car but anything that goes wrong is about $500 to
fix from the dealer. Im looking at 02-04 Sevilles or 00+ Devilles with the
center consoles. Any suggestions on a year/model I like the DTS most out of
the Devilles Night vision is neat.

Ryan Nelson says:

Who cares? I don’t really give any statistical value to the same people who
rate toasters and refrigerators. There are plenty of vehicles who CR
recommend and yet turn out to be pieces of crap so while these cars are
sometimes unreliable your point is invalid. The same people who put so much
faith in CR are the same people who drive Toyota Corolla’s and blindly
defend Toyota’s overall mediocrity.

darrelldundee03 says:

hey ryan…great vid very informative..question are the thrmastats on the
1998 deville sticks very often and when to change it? over or under 100,000
miles

Ryan Nelson says:

Check the codes first and then post what they are.

Cereal Marshmallows says:

And thats 5 Babies from 5 Baby Mommas BTW…;-)

mark woods says:

Pulled out thermostate n still over heating

Ryan Nelson says:

Dashpad on my STS warped as well. Removed it and super glued it using
clamps and it looked damn near new. Didn’t know that about the airbag!

Ryan Nelson says:

You have a suspension problem somewhere that is not allowing your car to go
over 90MPH. Check your codes and see if they have anything to do with that.

Ryan Nelson says:

No i’m not gay and yes I have an accent. You know whats more annoying than
my voice? Bitches like you putting unnecessary comments on my YouTube page.

TruAgape123 says:

I really don’t get your frustration with me. U drive a car with an abysmal
reliability record, with an increased chance of breakdowns and repair costs
and you have more disgust with me than with the shoddy manufacture that
made it. Do u realize how much more appealing this car could be if it
didn’t have these known problems? Yet u reward GM for their INCOMPLETE but
are “done” with me. It’s not me whose stupid, son. Surely u see that.

Make art not war 74 says:

So happy I bought a crown vic lx instead of the money bucket

Ometheon says:

Thanks for these infos, very good stuff in there. Instead of kneecapping
the electronic suspension of your car by installing regular shocks, you
might also buy not from a GM dealer but check out third party specialists
like say Arnott Industries. They have air shock kits for these cars for a
fraction of the GM prices.

Vernom Joyner says:

Hey Ryan, I unplugged the battery and plugged in back in and the radio can
back on. thanks for the tip.

RRODVictim360 says:

Sir i’m not calling you stupid and if i did sorry…. But these cars are
badass and why do comment on this type of video when your just a hater? I
don’t go on Lexus videos any say they are butt ugly. Yes these cars have
some problems but not enough too call them a POS. You got facebook Tru?
Lets see your car….

Ryan Nelson says:

Thermostats usually don’t fail. Same with the water pump. If you are having
overheating issues I’d be looking to get a block test. Could be a
headgasket.
