Poor Running Buick LeSabre

Poor Running Buick LeSabre

Come along with Eric O. and Ivan T. from “Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics” as we have a look at this 2002 Buick LeSabre 3.8 Series II that was towed in from Buffalo, NY. The car is only running on two cylinders with a P0300 and we need to figure out why. We also make a phone call to a mutual friend Keith D. Owner of “New Level Auto” and we learn a lot along the way as Ivan shares some of his scope captures from a recent case study he did. Enjoy!

A very interesting case study indeed. Could you share what was the resistance reading on new coils?

диагностикаавто says:

почему сразу было не проверить вторичку???

Mutt Head says:

My 3.8 cracks for about 7-10 secs before it fires….hmmm.

John Christ says:

Hello Eric O. Isnt that a GM Bypass Ignition System? Correct me if Im wrong, but I think thats why you have spark on engine cranking but no spark on engine running on at least some of the coils.

Sam G says:

Good work guys!

John murphy says:

Guys, great diagnostics, but, you were both schooled by the master,be humble, every day is a learning day!I n every trade there is that one Yoda, that keeps us unwashed masses humble.

bradley goode says:

I understand this car maybe in bad shape and not worth spending a lot of money on. I can see testing the coils and replacing only the bad ones to save money. But the spark plug wires are waaay passed there service life, they should have been replaced years ago. Due to the high cost of the coils, icm, cat, tow bill, diagnostic fees, you should replace the wires to protect the investment of the new parts. Keep up the good work, and videos best on youtube. Learned alot from you guys.

James Costello says:

I'm from Buffalo too. Biggest pain are the ICM and coils from a 1989-1994 generation two GM 3.1 where the module and coils are under the front manifold. Middle coil bottom bolt and the ac lines make the job more fun.

dwoodog says:

vantage pro, looks pretty sweet. Loved that Ivan stuck around to make this video. Watching you two work together was great.

major 007 says:

if you can do it we don't stand a chance. how would a do it your self mechanic figure this out at home. you three are the best on youtube.

lanzarlaluna says:

Master Yoda Keith with the knowledge drop.

Steve O says:

You guys better not be having fun. This is supposed to be hard work. lol

keith frisell says:

Eric thanks for replying to my question. I really enjoy ur videos. And even though iam a ASE and GM mechanic I have learned something new from your videos, you are entertaining with your comments about replacement parts , thx again and have a great night. Your loyal fan Keith

thomas bedenek says:

great video crazy that it can run on 2 cylinders. what was it you were saying about the ecotech and timing chains?

Larry Hurst says:

busjockey1 says:

Eric if you want a better ohm meter for checking low resistance you can purchase a milli ohm meter from aeswave. They are around 500 bucks but they are handy. I use one for hybrid work on the buses all the time. Or you could purchase a fluke 87 5 series dmm. It has a high resolution mode for ohms so you can measure to a hundredth of an ohm. Don't worry about being embarrassed about Keith. I plan to one day come out and help Keith just like you two to get some experience and I bet the same thing will happen to me. I will be on the car for 5 minutes and I bet Keith will know the issue just by using the force, lol. Have a good evening.
