I just used my hands to lift the factory battery without a handle. I'm not the strongest guy either, so to be honest I dont see it as a big deal.

Thanks for this video. The Advanced Auto Parts website says, and I'll copy & paste, "REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION: DO NOT attempt to install batteries in this vehicle". I thought, what the hell? I've never heard such a thing, so I googled & found your video, and it's flipping easy. No idea why they're telling people you need a mechanic to change this battery.

DJ HeadRush says:

Just changed the battery in my wife’s Enclave. This video made it simple and everything you suggested worked especially the vice grip tip.

My wife doesn't like Japanese car and like GM car only espec. buick. It is very bad that even change the battery need to go to dealer. Today I want change the battery for 2017 Enclave. Oh my god. The lock system is so stupid

keith graham says:

I used GORILLA tape for a handle to remove my battery. Used two strips of tape long enough to stick about 5" on each side and a hand grip. The battery tipped enough on close side to apply tape.

L J says:

This was extremely helpful. Went to AutoZone, bought the battery and used their tools. Got it done in about 15 mins! It’s infuriating that it’s this complicated to change, but I felt good afterwards. Also, if you don’t have vice grips, couple long pieces of duct tape will help pull it up!

DENISE THAI says:

Thanks for the video! Helped me change my battery for my 2016 Buick Enclave. Much appreciated.

I just replaced the battery in my 2013 traverse. What I did to get it out, once everything out of the way, took a strap and ran it under the battery. (My strap has an S hook on one end). I then ran the strap through the eye of the S hook and pulled tight and lifted the battery up and out. It was easy to get the strap under the battery once loose.

I only have one pair of vice grips so found another method. I then put the strap around the new battery and lowered it in place and pulled the strap free.

Mike says:

Thanks for the video. The owner manual doesn't have these instructions and only says to take it to the dealer. What bs
