Hello. Great job. Im wondering the purpose of wiping down the basecoat

I’ve been restoring an old 1987 High Sierra pick up. My biggest fear is
having the body work perfect (hence it’s taken 5 years) and then getting
runs that would be need to be sanded – which has happened to me before. I’m
really on the fence of whether or not to paint it myself for that reason.
On the other hand, I don’t want someone to paint it after I’ve done all the
work. Any tips would be much appreciated.

this is a good job man

stangowner8687 says:

LMAO at your responses to the top 2 comments, awesome comebacks, what needs
to be understood is the 2 most important matters to be addressed is a good
clean prepped surface, and a deep awesome shine/reflection, and seems you
did both. thumbs up from me

keyofdavid888 says:

Are you kidding? Do you see how WET he made that car? That’s how clear
SHOULD be laid!

dynamite978 says:

Kamil Pycia says:

look at the paint as the weather is nice haha

RevsLA24 says:

do you wipe the car while your painting or do you ley it dry first?

Dan JosephMarshallKnox says:

@PackyTV dammm thats alot of prep work for starters and blacks a bitch when
it come to spraying unless u pay for all the bodywork to be done black
shows up every little fault withing the bodywork . anyway i reckon your
looking at probably anything from a grand onwards and depending whit paint
finish you want to of course

jojo123469 says:

As a mediocore painter my painting is always rough…but wet sanding with
2000 grit and then polishing ,wow it really comes out no matter how rough
it is…

vikpainter says:

Сергій Криворука says:

Beautifully! And for varnish do you use here Iwataw400 Lv2 or W400lv4 ?

mrrodneyracing says:
