you do it pretty much exactly how i do it, i remove the air intake hose, it makes it much easier to remove the cover from the air box and get the filter element out, i want to get a K&N air filter as well for the Buick i want to get.
OH, silicone spray on the hose will make for easier re installation of the hose!

Incredibly the cat is fine. My car has been running just fine but I when I got in it to run errands the car wouldn’t start. Otherwise I would have driven off with the cat stuck inside my engine compartment. It was a stroke of luck for the cat that a cell in my battery went bad. Also, there is no indication that the cat had anything to do with my car breaking down! Would you like a cat?

Sooner or later contaminants will clog up and foul your mass air sensor. MUCH more expensive than an air filter.
what happenes if air leaks past the seal?…like what problems occur?
