Hello Sam my heat to my 2000 Mustang started going in and out. I replaced
the Thermostat and the heat still isn’t blowing. It comes on when it wants
to pretty much. Could this be a heater core issue? I live in Michigan and
it started acting up when we received the below zero weather.

NMranchhand says:

Well done. Thanks, Sam.

lukemsilver says:

Props to the G6

Roth Kur says:

springboro45342, EricTheCarGuy used it, he just made sure to thoroughly
flush out the CLR afterward using an air compressor. I mean he didn’t
explicitly say CLR but he showed a jug of CLR with the label removed.

ArcolaBridge says:

evaporator coil is bad.

springboro45342 says:

Can you put CLR in the coolant to remove any buildup?

L.A. Williamson says:

worked perfectly! thanks!

portland opto says:

There’s only one heater vent (center driver’s side) that blows hot air, the
other vents blow cool air. Can you think of any reason why only one heater
vent would be working? Thanks.

euonymus1980 says:

Great video! Thank you!!

James Hudson says:

i wish you would have said why the heater core can become plugged? anyways
on 1/25 my commute back home was 40 + minutes and i never got any hot air
when the dial was all the way on hot. should i try this?? (my thermostat is
new and i just had my head gasket replaced) thanks!

Sam Postema says:

@twistedsledder Yes it did fix the lack of heat. The funny thing was my
buddy did not even know it was plugged. He told me afterwards that the
vehicle did not have good heat prior to us flushing it out.

sakir ata jr says:

that eg6 is hot as hell

Sam Postema says:

@nikksan First our YouTube handles are almost identical! Second you should
manually flush the heater core first then flush full system with heater
core still disconnected. If not then the debris will restrict the heater
core flow very soon there after.

Metakythera says:

@r3g3d17 Thanks for your reply! Here’s from the CLR website: Can I use CLR
to clean out my radiator? No. CLR should not be used on a car radiator for
two reasons. First, CLR may not be compatible with the internal metals of
the radiator. Second, it could have adverse effects if the CLR is not
rinsed out completely. But that may be just a sort of legal precaution- at
other places about aluminum it just says it will take the finish off- I
bought some- I think I’ll try it with the 4:1 mix.

Sam Postema says:

@mweezy Most newer cars will set a code p0128 low coolant temp which is a
99% t stat failure.

tbz02 says:

@MosheStudioDesign Heater core is fine

Alex Scott says:

How do you bleed the air out of the system once you pour new coolant in?

LT1HILLINGHOE says:

That GM orange crap is the absolute worst anti freez ever made. It ruined
my GMC’s cooling system and I changed mine almost yearly. Everything
clogged up and gurgling under than dash all the time. If you get a vehicle
with that orange crap in it, flush it out and put in straight green
Prestone 100% with no water added.

LT1HILLINGHOE says:

You can use regular green once you drain the orange all out and flush it
with a radiator system flush. That orange crap gels up everything. If you
have not had any problems @119k, thank the Good Lord for that. You are in
the minority for sure.

r3g3d17 says:

@Metakythera I DID forget to mention that you use 4 to 1 parts water to
clr, and only let it sit for a long time if its totally clogged. If liquid
can still get through, you only need 10-15 minutes. I’ve used clr on
several heater cores in my own cars, both aluminum, one was over 20 years
old and the other only 10, and haven’t ever had one or heard of one leaking
or failing after having this done to it. I guess it could happen if the
core was on the edge of leaking anyway.

James Hudson says:

richpin06a says you have a bad heater core good luck!!

mafia8985 says:

Good video! The shop I got to wants to charge me 4 hours of labor to pull
the heater core out to flush it.

Metakythera says:

@r3g3d17 CLR sounds like the best/no brainer solutiuon– but as the bottle
warns against using that product on brass, aluminum and copper– how long
can it sit before you “melt” solders etc.?

domysajo says:

I dont think is a blend door . my AC did work untill the evportor leaked. I
need to Pull the dash for that anyway Was hopeing to wait for summer but I
dont think I will Make it and get heat . I did buy this truck new so I know
what the heat will do.

hmongboy133 says:

hey man i like they hatchback

dawg pound says:

@BellumSacrumBellum28 odly enouf it stoped and the heater is working fine
and leak stoped. weird… maybe it was just a clog that worked itself out?
it only did that for like 4 days

Fredy Sotelo says:

I have a 2003 toyota camry. only the driver side heather gets warm air. the
passenger side gets only cold air. Do you think I need to unclog the
heather core. I toke it to the dealer and they told me that they don not
why and they need about 7 hours to determine why this happening and no
guarantee, what’s your recommendation?

kreigsmann says:

that car is a peice of shit

Orlando Gonzalez says:

buy a new truck there problem solved
