can I use a inspection camera to look inside my gas tank because the gas
gauge in my truck dont work and I dont know how much gasoline is in the
tank
mine hasnt worked in years im not sure if it is wiring or sending unit any
way to know? in my country mechanics rip you off all the time thats why i
want to know
My fuel gauge keeps moving up every time i start my truck. could it be a
bad sending unit? or cluster? or gauge it’s self.
Hi Scotty, the problem with my car is that the fuel and temp gauges goes up
altogether. What might be the cause of it. Thanx
Scotty, Does this work with RV’s at well. We have a older camper that
the Gas gauge does not work. Thanks
What about the wire?? I was told by my dealers mechanic that a wire was
frayed so the gas gauge doesn’t read right. It kind of bobs around just
above E. I drive a 98 GMC 1500. Does anybody know of any places to look for
the frayed wire? Under the dash? by the gas tank?? He didn’t say exactly
where it was and if it’s just a wire I would like to see if I can replace
it myself.
you’re the best scotty!
My Grandmothers 2003 Buick Century Has A Problem With The Fuel Gauge It
Bounces Back And Forth Slowly It Would Say Full When Ya Start It Up Then
Within Like A Few Minutes It Would Say Empty Then It Would Stay There For
Quite A While It Moves When The Car Hits Bumps Or Goes At Any Angle It
Doesn’t Have An Accurate Reading It Moves All The Time Where Its At The
Longest I Guess That Almost What Is In The Tank My Grandmother Has Ran Out
Of Gas Once Already Whats Worse Is That The Car Sucks On Gas Mileage.
Great video Scotty!
If I may ask, would it be pretty much the same procedure on a 91 mustang?
Gas gauge isn’t working, I figured maybe the sending unit. Thanks for the
video!
I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy and the gas gauge keeps going up and down. I’m
thinking the device that is use to measure how much gas is in the tank is
ether shorted or loose. But I’m not sure.
Hey Scotty, I’ve got a 2000 Chevy Impala 3.4 with 204,000+ mi.The fuel
level sending unit (I’m guessing) has been malfunctioning for years, but
now it’s really whacked out. Rumor has it that certain fuel system cleaners
(‘Techron’, ‘Chemtool’, etc.) sometimes fixes the issue by dissolving
gum/varnish/sulfur from sensitive components within the fuel level sending
apparatus. I bought this car in 2001 with less than 20k; so I know it
pretty well; (it’s never blown a single bulb…except both license plate
bulbs) One thing I’ve always done with previous vehicles is use ‘Chemtool’
(‘Berryman B-12) on a regular basis, but I read in my owners manual, not to
use any ethanol/methanol in this vehicle. So reluctantly I have not used
‘Chemtool’ for the last 185,000+ miles. Recently though, I took a gamble
and put in 3 cans (45 oz.) into a full tank of gas. Questions: #1 Am I
likely to screw anything up? If so, what? #2 Has such a method (using fuel
system cleaners; detergent, or solvent types) ever repaired a
malfunctioning fuel gauge? #3 I’ve never changed my fuel filter, should I,
or is that a fallacy? (p,s.; I plan on changing it anyhow ASAP, & I’ll
check for any loose/dirty wires while I’m down there) (FYI; the original
fuel pump is still in place) Thanks brother. You’re videos rock!
Hey Scotty I’ve got a 1990 nissan pulsar and if i fill up my tank to 1/4
gas my fuel gauge on the dash is just fine but somehow if the car is
running the gauge goes to below empty together with the temp gauge. and
after a few minutes of running the vehicle they coming back to their
position it seems that scared me can you tell what are the issues here?
thank you indeed your so genius for allabout cars.
I have a 1995 honda civic i tried this video replaced sending unit still my
gas gage reads above full?
went through a big puddle and now my gas gauge stays on E… could it be a
short in the wiring that goes to the sender?
What about a car where the gauge works but isnt correct? 1989 Cavalier, it
goes from like just under 1/4 to over full, like over the F mark. do i need
to just open the cluster and adjust the pin some?
is it hard to replace a sending unit on a 2001 buick lesabre really need to
know
my nissan frontier 1n6ed27y82c358060 fuel gauge is not working how can I
fix it
Bought a car and the seller tells me the gas gauge works until the gas is
about quarter tank then you’re on your own, and it reads as if it has more
then what it actually has when from a cold start then after a bit it goes
to the right amount I’m thinking it’s the sending unit but not sure it’s a
98 Mustang
i got a 94 camaro that runs out of gas at 1/4 a tank is that fixable by
this?
I have a problem with my fuel system. When the car at park mode “P”, the
car works fine and the accelerator works fine. But when on the road “D”
gear, for few minutea the car run normally but after that I can hear a
sound from my fuel tank and at the same time the car cannot be accelerated.
Do you think there is a leak on the tank causing the pump working hard? Or
something else? Thanks in advance.
I have a 96 Buick Regal and my fuel level fluctuates a significant amount
while I’m driving. When I’m going up hill or accelerating and the gas moves
to the back of the tank, it reads significantly higher than on flat ground.
When I brake, the opposite happens. I’m guessing the float is in the back
of the tank. It wouldn’t be such a big issue, but it can read up to 1/4 of
a tank more or less than it did at start-up. I worry about it a lot on long
trips. What is your expert opinion on this?
fun and smart thank u
Mine reads all different sorts of things. Full, empty ,1/4, and so on. And
i know it is full. But my luck has it the sending unit is together with the
fuel pump. So both have to be replaced. Could that be a sign of a faulty
fuel pump also since they are together or im just out of luck and have to
change my good working fuel pump because of the sending unit. Itll
sometimes, well most of the time give me an sccurate fuel reading.
you seem like a really cool person lol
I have a 94 town car that says co and sometimes cs what that mean on fuel
gage
I have a 2001 firebird and the needle just sort of hovers around the
middle, any clue what it is?
I’m having trouble with the gauge in that it might be the ground wire that
could be the problem how would I be able to trouble shoot that
Scotty kilmer my gas gauge on my 2000 mustang stays on E. Any ideas on what
i could try to make it work?
I have a 99 grand am. And it goes back and forth between half a tank and
full, I hate it.
he he ….very cool
