2010 Buick Enclave front strut replacement

2010 Buick Enclave front strut replacement

Car had 121k miles. Car had a knock/rattle sound/noise coming from the right side. Was especially noticeable driving slow around parking lots. Found right, front strut had oil leak.
This is a fairly easy DIY job. I show the steps at the beginning.
-Remove windshield wipers by popping off small piece of plastic that covers a 15mm nut
-May need to spray penetrating oil (or free all) on nut
-Remove plastic around wipers. Make sure to locate the white push pins that hold the plastic on and replace them on the black plastic piece.
-You have exposed the tops of struts with 3 nuts that attach it
-Remove two of the three nuts and loosen the third (15 mm deep socket)
-Remove tire (if have not done this already)
-May want to spray penetrating oil on the 18 and two 24mm nuts to be removed.
-Remove 18mm nut holding link that attaches to sway bar
–May need to hold shaft from rotating with 8mm socket or wrench
-Support the knuckle with jack or tie it to part of the wheel well
-Loosen two 24mm nuts attaching strut to knuckle
-May want to note location of bolts in holes to try and preserve alignment (but you will have to get an alignment anyway so not critical)
-Move nuts to be flush with end of bolt
-Hammer bolts so they come out the other side
-Remove nuts and one more hammer whack should push bolts out
-Remove last nut on top of strut and strut will come out
-Insert new strut and finger tighten all 3 nuts
-Jockey strut and knuckle to align holes for the 2 bolts
-Push or hammer bolts through far enough to get nuts on them
-If you noted location of original bolts/nuts try to put them in the same position (I did not worry about this)
-Torque to 120 ft lb
-Replace 18mm nut, tighten, and replace ABS wire attach points
-Lower vehicle, tighten 3 nuts on strut top to 45 ft lb
