I don’t know what it is but GM has (over the last 20 years or so) had some
really dumb idea dealing with plastic and coolant. This particular
problem I was not familiar with but I am aware of at least two design flaws
that lead to recurring failures on various GM vehicles.

dorman sells a aluminum elbow to replace the plastic one.. but mayb gm made
it from plastic because there nasty dexcool would eat it.. lol
i don,t know why they didnt just use the Aluminium coolant pipe and intake
and the glycol coolent like on the GmH version of this v6.
Buick early 2000’s was garbage, I used to sell ’em.
