I also have a Buick, Reatta …1990 … 3.8 V6… I have been told by
dozens of GM fans that this is the best motor GM produced. In my Reatta,
the 3.8 is a powerhouse, and it gets great gas mileage .
Here’s a little nostalgia this morning. We had this 1988 Buick Reatta stop
in for some suspension work the other day. I was amazed how well this unit
has been maintained and survived here on the East Coast. The cool thing
about this Reatta, is that is shows off GM’s future technology with it’s
electronic dash controls. By the way, it all works! Would you call it a
prelude to the new digital dash units seen today? Yeah, I think it
qualifies. Known as the “poor man’s Corvette” it shares some of the
suspension engineering albeit in a minor way. (the rear set up in
particular) Although not a big seller and a limited run model, I think it
shows that even in the screwed up 80’s, GM had some imagination. Which was
rare back then. Just ask Bob Lutz or read “Car Guys and Bean Counters”.
it has a 3.8l v6 not a 2.8l
Thank You for that correction +Christopher Byron – Must not have been
paying attention to well when I made this clip. – Greg
