Front and rear brakes position/location on the handlebars are not universal. Prior to riding your next bike to be road tested see which brake handle controls which brake. Another nice repair Mike and it seem to be a good car .sorry bout your shoulder and hope you feel better right away.
As for the bike did you have to put it out of its misery you know when a horse throws you you have to put it down
