John Smith says:

You may get it fix by replace the thermostate assy very simple

Brian Nail says:

Have you tried replacing O2 sensor?

bhdproduction2007 says:

i’m not sure what to do, i have 0172 and 0174. i haven’t done a smoke test
yet. but i have changed my mass air flow for a new one and i checked my
fuel injectors and they seem to hold good pressure (i used fuel pressure
test from harbor freight not quite a good tool but i managed to make it
work) any ideas for my 0172? thanks hope to hear from you soon

Hai Nguyen says:

There is a tiny chopstick-size rubber hole that comes out off the air
intake boot and runs downward does anyone know where to buy that part, mine
is broken I temporary a segment of it which some hole I have on hand.
Thanks!

Banner Cuadra says:

Hi buddy! I currently have the same codes on 2004 325I. Engine light came
on a week later after I took it to a shop and the mechanic replaced the
thermostat/housing and upper and lower radiator hoses. Any chance he may
inadvertently let something loose? Thanks…

Adam Pappas says:

I followed your video on changing out the CCV. I put everything back
together (some of those hoses were very difficult). Now my car wont even
start. I cleaned the MAF, and inspected all the hoses (That I could see).
The problem started while driving, I lost all power and the engine
sputtered and shut off, I restarted it and it ran really rough with the gas
pedal to the floor, then when I removed my foot off the gas pedal, the car
stalled. I got it home and put it on a reader and the codes P0171 and
P0174 came up. My tech recommended changing outt eh CCV. I did notice
that the hose from the brake booster to the sucking jet pump was
collapsed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Hai Nguyen says:

I have these codes on my 2004 325Ci for awhile now, I keep erase them and
of course they keep come back. Anyway, I have not replaced O2 Sensors, my
car has 160K miles on it so I plan to replace them next, but I am unsure
how many O2 sensor this car has. does anyone know? I am sure it needs 2 or
4 O2 sensors.

Jg99snake says:

I read that you have to disconnect the batt for 5 minutes or so to re learn
the fuel trims

bill durning says:

if u got a true vacuum leak and lean condition car will run like crap and
idles will change–if it don’t feel funny it most likely a sensor and
computer goes into a different mode and will still run ok(just not with
true values)

bill durning says:

for mine it was MAS sensor——experiment-disconnect MAS and it will run
ok with funny things sometimes-codes for lean disappear but only code for
MAS cause it disconnected—-also if u inspect MAS under the wire you will
c a like burn mark like lightning hit it(it is small)–I have seen this
burn hole/mark on other bmw’s with these lean codes————-I will
admit at first I tried 0 2 sensors and car accelerated better but still got
codes-that is when I looked at MAS

Andy Claus says:

replaced the plug and the values went from +15 % on fueltrim and dropped
down to 0 and stayed there around +-2 % wich is acceptable, if this plug is
the issue the light will turn it self of after driving the car for a while.
The idling wid not change when i sprayed it with either but this was the
problem 4 months and 4 tanks of gas since and no light no code only good
short fuel trim values.

Bullshitkorner says:

the problem was solved in a later video after i smoked tested the engine

Andy Claus says:

I hade the same codes on my e39 and thought it was the valve cover breather
hose and its a pain to replace, so i messed around and found a vaccumplug
in the end of the intake manifold the short side. Mine was cracked and i
did a test and sprayed it with ether but it did no difference but i could
see my fueltrim values bursting up and down. if you stand on the driver
side and lock down under on the the intake manifold facing the firewall you
can see the plug just sticking out mine was cracked.

Bullshitkorner says:

i replaced all that on mine as well, it seems like my car has been hit with
all the common issues that bmw’s have

andysweden78 says:

Let me know if you can’t find the plug or if it was not the cause,
intresting to know since i had the same problem.

gillman13 says:

You may want to check the vacuum hoses behind the intake manifold. I
replaced my valve cover gasket and ended up disconnecting and breaking a
couple of the brittle vacuum hoses by accident. I got the same two lean
codes as well as a misfire code. Once I replaced the vacuum hoses (which
was no easy task given that I did not want to remove the intake manifold),
everything returned to normal.

aeromech74 says:

Thanks for the reply! I was looking at an innova as well.

X Nick Cui says:

Have you checked the O2 sensor? There are two pre-cat and two post-cat
sensors. They are supposed to be replaced at approximately 100K miles.

Bullshitkorner says:

i will do a video of that soon, i just got a different scanner that can
read the fuel trims while it’s running

dodger59 says:

Any chance that this could be caused by a fuel filter, or possibly an EGR
valve? Best wishes. I enjoy your videos. You may drink my beers for me.

stlady59 says:

HOPE YOU CAN HELP! I have a 1991 BMW 232is that I have not been able to
smog. Several mechanics used a code tool to detect failures and had a smoke
test done on it. The smoke test (2 replacements) I only needed . I have
replaced the Camshaft Position Senor Position Intake (P0340) and the Carbon
Canister Shut-off valve (P1403), but the M73: Heated Senor is only other
code that was detected on the scan tool. What you recommend? In need of ”
KNOW IT ALL, ADVICE! TXS!

Bullshitkorner says:

thanks the for input i may have found it after replacing the ccv valve i
noticed that when i installed it i never had the oil return line on tight
and it just came off. with a little effort i got it back on. i need to get
a battery and start it up if i still have the issue i’ll check your advice

Mike perez says:

I’ve had the same problem not only once but couple of times there is a very
simple device you can pick up from either Granger or eBay it’s called a
smoke test kit it’s a little tube with some chemical inside of it it’s
harmless to the engine you just attach it to one of the vacuum lines put a
little pump on it and it will show you exactly where your vacuum leak is
coming from. If you need more info get back to me and I’ll be glad to send
you the link

Nicole Dickerson says:

I just wanted to update you on my progress. Found out the problem was my
air intake boot to the icv has a hole in it!

the0vermind says:

do you smoke weed

Mike perez says:

Can you send me the info I’ve been watching your videos you help me with
the front axle I replaced both sides thanks.

Bullshitkorner says:

have you checked your fuel pressure should be around 3.5 bar both at
priming pulse and running

Bullshitkorner says:

if you followed my videos we did smoke test it in a later video

Bullshitkorner says:

i like them they work well with BMW’S and other vehicles

Bullshitkorner says:

thanks for the comment there is a updated video where i found the issue and
yes your right when i replaced the VCG the gasket got pinched and created a
leak and also i had another small vacuum leak

Oscar Nino says:

I had the same problem and after changing the CVC valve i found a broken
vacum line that goes from the injection intake to the CVC valve ( small
vacume hose) doublecheck and also follow that line all the way on the
engine back , it goes to a vacume switch that maybe broken as well, hope
this help.

Bullshitkorner says:

i thought that as well, i need to hook up my different scanner and read the
fuel trims and see

Beatrice Flippen says:

smoke test it…

Joe G says:

Been haveing same problem for awhile ran all test became a member from my
ob2 coder got them to read all info it came back as gas filter or injecter
anything to do with gas filter being dirty or dirt build up gas tank ect….

JOSE RODRIGUEZ says:

DID YOU CHECK THE FREEZE FRAME DATA? IF SO DETERMINE WHEN THE CODE SETS,
ALSO CHECK FUEL PRESSURE,,,,

Bullshitkorner says:

it turned out to be a vacuum leak, in a later video

Bullshitkorner says:

that is one of the common problems yes, however that wasn’t the issue in
this case

Bullshitkorner says:

i have a peake scanner to clear service codes on the bmw and also a innova
scanner to read and display live data on the car

Bullshitkorner says:

that’s a very common issue glad you found that, a intake boot is way
cheaper than a maf sensor

jjjuarez36 says:

Before I can’t find the leak on my BMW either so i blow some water to do a
button holes and I find a leg is behind the intake in front of the
windshield I haven’t fixed it yet but that might be the problem wholesome
mine start do have the league since I change the spark plugs but that was a
long time ago

X Nick Cui says:

Yeah I just watched. Great job. You are awesome 🙂

Bullshitkorner says:

keep me posted i’m leaning more towards a maf as well but just making some
videos troubleshooting to help people out
