Such an easy filter to replace – compared to many Japanese cars.

AutoWerksofAmerica says:

The fuel filter on an early e60 520i is in the fuel tank. There are two
larger inserts in the tank. The one on the passenger side includes the fuel
pump and a level sensor. The one on the driver’s side (assuming LHD)
includes the fuel filter and a level sensor. The filter & sender unit is
part # 16146765826. We sell the OEM version for $212.35 & the Bosch branded
part for $154.38. (Sept. 2013)

Where is the fuel filter on bmw e60 520i pre facelift? Cant find it
anywhere (

maungsacca says:

Thanks helped me do my 2006 X5 yesterday. The cover on an X5 required a lot
of time and searching for the bolts and screws. We didnt clamp the ends
just stuffed a bolt in them which stopped the fuel lines leaking.

You guys are awesome!!!! I love your videos. So helpful. But is there any

AutoWerksofAmerica says:

I’m afraid we do not sell that particular item.

Morgan Moroni says:

Do you sell the shield that covers the fuel filter? I couldn’t find it on
your website.

Erik Bowers says:

Very Nice Information. Thank You.

TomatoWithARifle says:

Nice DIY a little creepy at the end but ok. haha

Nauli Net says:

I have BMW 520i E34 M50 (1990), where can i locate the fuel filter ?

lemining says:

@Tilan123 Well i got my BMW with few issues that I’m working through now.
Suspension bushes, general maintenance, maf sensor issues, cam position
sensors. So far i’m very happy with it. I dont think I could compare it to
corolla since I never had one, i heard good and bad stories about those :).
I do think that corolla will take a lot less gas to get you from A to B
though. I have 318 2L engine and it does take about 9-10L/100km

blackonblackseven says:

all of these videos are very helpful. Thank you!!

renaven21 says:

two BMW’s, surely I can use your video. Your web site is in my favs site
now.

Laszlo Makrai says:

1995 E36 is totally different. It is a real PITA to change. I guess they
(BMW) realized that and moved the filter to under the car. on the early
ones the filter is by the firewall !

r j says:

@AutoWerksofAmerica very helpful video thanks

Neon Belly says:

Thanks for the great info

Kristoffer Moncada says:

This is a slightly off topic question, but did you “clean up” the old rusty
shield or did you replace it with a new one.

Oldbmwr100rs says:

@lemining Same here, the basic services on BMW’s are for the most part
fairly easy, and most of the parts, filters, etc, are actually reasonably
priced. After working on BMW bikes for almost 20 years, One thing i am
impressed with is that they’re made to be easily maintained. As for larger
repairs though, well some of those aren’t so easy or inexpensive!

alexzxn says:

any idea where is the filter on a 2006 e60 525i? Awesome video BTW keep up
the good work !

AutoWerksofAmerica says:

@Bimmabenzbently2010 Thanks!

Where are internal fuel filters usually located on BMW’s? Say an E46?

chopsticks4beginners says:

Great DIY! I have a ’95 M3 which I bough new years ago. It’s got 120K on
her but still hummin’. Could you by chance tell me the size of the fuel
hose you used, if in fact mine requires changing as well? Thanks in advance!

george Chicu says:

man that’s a LOOOOOONG fuel filter

Rand D. Allen says:

Cool. Always nice to actually see the job done to cut down on surprises.
And removing the fuel pump fuse to burn up excess fuel is a nice trick.
Thanks!

AutoWerksofAmerica says:

The BMW part to which we referred was the OE shield covering the filter. We
used the Hengst filter available at AutoWerksofAmerica com for less than $20

Dats Jainal says:

What is the size of those hose clamps? I wanted to buy some before I do the
job. Please advise. Thanks

kasongo kas says:

@camvoengan Hi there… i also have a 1990 Bmw 535i E34 i am pretty sure
the fuel filter must be located in the same area as yours, is on the
passenger side (REAR) or back seat now underneath just after the main gas
tank.
