Eventually. I have some work to do on it over the winter.
i bolted a extra bolt on so it is a locking nut so it dont come loose
how much did it cost?
Awesome. Any specific brand you could recomend?
@j0k3r9696 I suppose it will probably work, but for $30 I would be
questioning the quality of the part…
@foleygac ok, thanks!
No. A poorly setup suspension will help you drift.
ya i know what you mean… thanks a lot bro you halped a lot….
No, this strut brace won’t work because the V8’s valve cover/intake
manifold blocks the space in between the strut towers. I think Dinan may be
the only manufacturer who makes strut braces for the 540i.
does your car even need a strut bar, What do you do with your car for it
to need a strut bar, If your car did not come with one why are you putting
one on? unless you are some drifter junkie but this seems like a lil
overkill.
arent you susposed to JACK UP THE CAR,before you install a strut bar?
Sweet ride. I have a 2000 528i i’m trying to upgrade my old tail lights. My
question is what brand red and clear taillights would you suggest and if
you’ve had any problems with error codes that read light bulb out with
yours? I’d appreciate it if you could get back to me. Thanx
Ok, thanks for the info! Cant wait for a new E39 video! Are you planing on
making one?
@foleygac you supposed not to lift up the car. The factory instruction is
leave the car flat on ground.
@foleygac do u think it makes a difference if i buy a strut brace for 30
bucks? will it give me the same results? i mean its a metal brace
aluminium?!
Yes.
Will this help me drift or no?
@DrMu5tCh3at2W1n I would hope that there would be some sort of engineering
behind the design of something like this. I guess anyone could build strut
brace but in terms of having something that’s safe and actually works I
don’t think it necessarily hurts to have some R&D behind it.
not many strut brace’s made for the 540i tons for M5 and tons for the i6’s
I like the DEPO’s based on the fact that they are cheaper but they also
look pretty good as well. The color is a little brighter than than the OE
Hella’s. However, if you want a more OEM look I would just look at getting
the Hella’s. Either way you can’t really go wrong.
@DrMu5tCh3at2W1n you asked what at strut bar is it is a bar that crosses
the engine and bolts on too the front suspension struts to save fuel and
stiffen suspension.it helps cornering but can make the rear slide a bit but
it is rare i hope this help
did you have to lift the car in the air?? or you can leave it grounded.
oh ya i know what you mean… the strut needs to be higher… ya dinan
maiks one but its kindof expensive but ther are other monufacturers that
maik strut braces for 540i but idk how to know whitch one is betther…
I liked your video and i was wondering if this strut brace will work on a
e39 540i 2001.. i searched online but i couldnt find dynamic racing srtut
brace for an 540i.. thanks bro..
I purchased DEPO crystal red/clear lens. They essentially replace the
amber/red lens and take no more that 5 minutes to fit. There is also the
Hella OE lights on the face lifted E39’s but you’re going to be paying
quite a bit of money for those. Bulb out error wont be a problem with a
replacement lens however sometimes the LED conversions can cause a problem.
I don’t really know too much about the LED conversion kits as I don’t have
one. In the regard I would go OE if that’s what you want.
@olverafam No, I’m not a drift junkie and in all honesty I don’t even race
the car. However, a strut brace does serve a very important function and I
believe more cars should come stock with them. The strut brace reduces the
strut tower flex inherent in the McPherson Strut suspension setup.
Essentially in all driving conditions this simple mod changed the handling
characteristics of my car at every speed and made the turn in more
predictable and consistent. Overall, it was a drastic change.
Yes, but my jack broke earlier in the weak and I didn’t have time to get a
new one. Everything went installed perfectly the first time around. I’ve
gone back to make sure the nuts are still tight and the brace is still
tightly mounted to the end plates. Everything is still tight and I’ll go
back from time to time to check on it but as far as I’m concerned it’s fine
for now.
No, it’s not petty. You’re right. Literally after putting it together on
video I made sure to go back and correct it. For some reason, one of my end
plates was bent and I could not fit the washers in between the bar or the
end plates. Fortunately, I had a hammer to fix it.
Honestly…they are all pretty much the same. The difference is the design
which influences ease of install. Mines a hinge design which makes it a
three step install. Some are pre-assembled or a 1 piece unit where they
basically bolt right it. They all end up doing the same job though.
@DrMu5tCh3at2W1n as long as it is well contructed and made of a good
quality steel all strut bars work the same. The more expensive strut bars
cost more just because they claim them to be better and look more “flashy”.
in reality a cheap strut bar will work just the same as a more expensive
one.
@spinlessbastard1 I believe the end-plates are different because on the
passenger side of the vehicle the ABS module is slightly in the way and the
ground for the jump start terminal is also mounted on the strut tower. To
give clearance for the above mentioned items I think they needed to have a
different design for that particular end-plate. In all honesty it’s not too
noticeable once installed but I definitely noticed it when I opened the box.
I’m pretty sure it was probably tweaked during shipping, so it’s out of
their control. The box was pretty beat up when I go it. Take care yourself.
Bavarian AutoSport?? Do you mean the one in OKC right next to I-35 Imports?
@thepain321 No, I was referring to Bavarian Autosport in Portsmouth, New
Hampshire.
@j0k3r9696 I think I paid $250 for it through Bavarian Autosport.
@DelSolRacer93 Lifting the front in the air will make the install easier as
the fitment on these is tight. I didn’t have the front of the car off the
ground and that was my mistake. Lesson learned.
