This was the only video that shows exactly how to do it quickly and how
easy it is. My 2009 bmw 535i used an H-8 replacement bulb that’s 20 bucks
available at most auto parts stores. I just wanted to add that my angel
eyes weren’t working either with this running light out, so replace the
running light first and that might fix them also!

Su6z3r0 says:

thumbs up for the “stealership” gig. :))

CatAuto says:

To replace one bulb, my mechanic quoted $37 for the bulb and $160 for
labor. He stated that he was going to have to take the grill off in order
to get to the “lamp housing.” After watching your video, I spent $10 for
the bulb and changed it in 5 minutes. No tools were required….Thanks for
saving me $200.

eXistinZ says:

Pull out your bulb using these directions, then google h8 bulb, click
images. If the bulb you pulled out looks like those, you’re good! Some m5’s
do have a differenet type bulb that I haven’t messed with. So if the
directions i gave in this video don’t work, that’s probably what you have.
I hope this helps!

Sweentus says:

I ordered the bulb 2x and both times I receive the Philips H8B1. but the
package says “fog lamp”. can I use it or is there an H8 running light bulb?
Thanks

will this work for a 2008 bmw m5 ? currently the right side is gone but the
left side works. However, when I turn on the headlights they both work. Im
confused can someone clarify the functionality or mechanism?

Junior Z says:

Hey guys I was able to use this tutorial and I had an easy time installing
these H8 light bulbs. Th dealer quoted me $220 plus tax over here in
California. The service writer stated to me each one cost 46$, but I later
found out they where 25.99$. I decided to take mine off the car using this
tutorial and went to the local Auto Zone in Los Angeles Ca. The cost of 1
was 19.99$ for the same identical bulb in my M5. I went ahead and bough 2.
My total cost was approximately $45.

Sweentus says:

It worked. Thanks!

eXistinZ says:

It should work fine but before you open the package just pull the one that
is in your car out and see if they look similar. If they do, you’re good.
I’m not sure what the b1 stands for

Junior Z says:

In addition I noticed that the socket on my 2008 M5 the one that I used to
instal these H8 bulbs, is acting weird. If I fiddle with the wire leading
into the socket while trying to plug in the H8 bulb it sends out a
shortage. I had to fiddle with this plug. I hope it does not give me
problems in the near future .

A Wilson says:

Worked perfectly. Took about 10 minutes (counting time to come back and
review video). Cost for the Sylvania H8 bulb was 14.99. p.s. for 2009 550i

Sherrie Johnson says:

Was this replacement bulb for the passenger side or driver side of the
vehicle?

William Cheng says:

Thanks, that was helpful!

Eric Jeter says:

Tossing out a thank you as well, saved me $300.00.

Bobby Divin says:

I, too, would like to thank you for the video. I used a flat-head to remove
the clips, but be warned of not breaking them off. Quick and easy process.
Unfortunately, I spent $37 for the bulb at my local BMW Service Shop! UGH!

eXistinZ says:

Any auto parts store.

eXistinZ says:

Glad I could help!

Sweentus says:

Both of my circles are out on the drivers side. does changing the one bulb
fix both circles?

Classicrk says:

First of all, stealership for my 535i stated $160 to replace both bulbs.
I’m serious! Not kidding! Thats what my service adviser told me.
Outrageous! I bought both bulbs for $31 (including tax) at Auto Zoneand
replaced in less than 5 minutes using your video. Thank you. If ever in
Phoenix, AZ area, holler. I’ll buy you several beers. 🙂

eXistinZ says:

Yes, one bulb is used to create the ‘halo’ on each side. Good luck!

H Brown says:

Saved me some cash. Took me less than 5 minutes. Thanks!

eXistinZ says:

It will be labeled H8 Halogen. This is the bulb that causes the halo effect
on the bmw.

PLAYDEALS says:

I had a driving light go on my 2008 E60 LCI 535d yesterday, got home and
Googled it and was horrified to see the responses, 30 mins must have hands
the size of a 5 yr old etc etc. As my car is in the BMW stealer this week
for a brake fluid change as well. I asked them for a price to change the
bulb £40 labour + £15 for the bulb + 20% vat. I found a local parts company
called GSF £5.76 for the H8-35w bulb and it took me the same amount of time
to do as this video. Thanks for showing the way!!

SMasseyNole says:

Thanks for the vid. BMW was gonna charge me 300 bucks, unreal.
