no need to be so rude!!!!!!!!! I wasn’t suggesting that there was anything
wrong with your video. It was very well put together. I was simply offering
the option to those who need only the cover as was asked in other comments.
I have been sewing my entire life, it wasn’t that hard, and it looks very
professional TYVM. (you take the old skin off, hence the word replace).

olaf2046 says:

I wasn’t being rude Patricia. Sorry if I sounded so. I’ve seen DIY forums
where kids are putting those M/// skinned covers over the old worn skin and
it looks baggy and mishaped. However, I bet if someone was stitching and
doing upholstery for a long time or professionally as in your case then
your method will no doubt be 100% more effective than entire armrest
dissambly to replace the skin. Thanks for your comment and again my
apologies if I was rude. I would also like to see a video from you.

reconceive says:

Nice. I probably will give this a go. Pretty cool watch too. What is that?

3bn3mar says:

Very helpful. It’s much easier seeing the demo than trying to follow posts
on a forum. Worked great. I left the anchor in my E46 and replaced the
leather portion. Great work.

Jumper says:

how muchit cost the new armrest?

Patricia Jones says:

you can replace just the cover without removing anything from the console.
I made my new cover, you can buy them online also. Much easier and less
expensive option!!!!!!!!!!!!

r6vr6 says:

Thank you for posting this! I was able to dissasemble mine in less time and
it was SUPER Easy! Thank you very much!

Carlos Cabreja says:

I love your videos! Would you know 1) To replace the locking latch on the
armrest door, do you need to remove the entire door? and 2) How do you
dismantle the actual door to replace the latch that locks it closed (or it
flips up) Thank you!

adonis2069 says:

Thank you for the demo, it helped me great deal. peace.

olaf2046 says:

it depends from $20 used on eBay to $300 new at the Dealership.

MontereyDave says:

Thank you for sharing your expertise. You made an otherwise nearly
impossible task very easy with your YouTube video. I replaced the worn and
cracked armrest cover with a custom fit one I found on eBay. The quality of
my replacement’s black vinyl made not be quite as good as the original
leatherette but it is now comfortable and looks better than the cracked
original to me. Thanks again. Dave Clanton Monterey, CA

olaf2046 says:

This video I made is for the ENTIRE armrest and not just the skin. If you
have a problem with then make your own video and take your own time out of
your day showing us your DIY!!!!!!! (lol….also go easy on those
exclamation points next time) BTW I’ve seen those skins they sell on eBay
and I’ve seen the DIY showing how to stitch them and put them on over the
aged skin. It is hard to do AND make it look professional without the skin
being too baggy.

GiancarloBlaze says:

Thank you very much for posting this video. You saved me a lot of time and
angony. And it was as easy as it looked.

olaf2046 says:

There is a DIY at e46fanatics and e46zone co uk . Use Google Search to find
them. However doing it that way is harder and it never quite looks OEM.
Good luck with that.

Aniruddha Natekar says:

thanks for posting this. I’ll be trying this out tomorrow. A tad nervous
about pulling those springs out though.
