Awesome DIY, very detailed and professional. Keep making more E46 videos!
I need to know the part number of sway bar link Nut, please if any body can
help me
after front sway bar installation done should I do wheels alignment??
I meant not in a stop light but when taking off..
We do use the Liqui-Moly copper based anti-seize on urethane suspension and
swaybar bushings. We have this at bavauto.com, part number 2012
was it just me or was the video jagged when there was movement,ie hands and
arms?.
The new swaybars are larger in diameter. This improves the cornering and
handling by keeping the chassis flatter as you corner, which reduces the
weight transfer to the outside. All this improves handling. We have found
that the Liqui-Moly copper anti-seize compound performs better than
silicone grease, in the long run. Less wear of the urethane and less
potential for squeaks.
If you can describe the noise and exactly how and when it happens, we may
be able to suggest what it is from.
can you put jack stands on the brackets?
I have a knocking noise during very slow speed when starting up from a
complete stop. usually over small bumps or while steering, higher speeds
there is now sound and drive as good as always. Could the sway bar
replacement fix this issue? Recently replace front control arm bushings
with power flex and had a front alignment. Could of these be the culprits?
This is the best DIY I have ever seen.
I heard it could be a cracked flex joint
What do you mean by a difference in camber?
My c v joint. Are in good. Conditions drive. Shaft are good wheel. Bearing
they new do.u think is the sway bar bushings. This noise is crazy
You may have a broken rear spring. this is quite common on the E46 chassis.
Take a good look at the rear springs, especially at the lower first coil.

Great explanation skills.
Depending on what kind of noise it is that you’re actually hearing, it
could be normal drivetrain play (transmission, differential, axles),
excessive differential play, worn rear suspension or subframe bushings,
etc. Is this just a single clunk vs. a shake or vibration?
Unfortunately, you will have to do a bit of diagnosing before any specific
cause of the clicking can be determined. May be; swaybar end links, axle
C/V joints, drive-shaft C/V joint, wheel bearings, brakes, etc. At what
speeds and under what exact conditions does the sound occur?
Hello what is the difference between the black bar and red bar couldn’t u
just change the bushings
I have an e36 325i. I can see that I have a noticeable difference in camber
aswell.
also my right rear seems to sit a little lower then the right.. the
clearance from tyre to body is less on the right than the left
Very informative video! Thank you very much!
I have new rear suspension. In my e39 540i I still have click click. Noise.
In the rear end do u think that. Noise coming. From the sway bar thanks
What is the diameter on the stock sway bar? Couldn’t I just replace the
bushings without replacing the bar itself?
Flawless vid and instructions. On to watch Pt. 2!
The red bars are made from a larger diameter bar. This makes them stiffer,
resulting in more control of the body roll. The firmer urethane bushings
enhance the improved roll control by not compressing as much as the
original rubber.
Awesome videos!!! I was concerned when I step on the gas (I have a bmw e46
zhp) it makes a knocking sound where the cup holders are and it shakes like
crazy and then goes away its only when Im like in a stop light or trying to
floor it any suggestions? Thanks
Are you saying that the video was choppy? we did not see this in our
editing. Do you have a specific time (in the video) that you see what you
are reffering to?
Depending on what model you have ……. The upper control arm should
obviously move, but there should be no actual play in any of the bushings
for the upper or lower arms. Many of the rear control arm and wheel hub
bushings are actually articulated ball joints and they do move freely.
my 2 rear wheels have negative camber, but my drivers side rear has a
noticeable difference in negative camber compared to the rear right side.
Diameter of the stock bars depends on the year and model. Yes, in some
cases, you can replace the stock rubber bushings with urethane. Give our
agents a call at 800-535-2002.
You likely need a new driveshaft center bearing and/or flex disc. We would
suggest replacing both, since the driveshaft needs to be removed for either
one. You will also need new exhaust gaskets, as the exhaust must be
removed. We offer all of these parts. See our online store at bavauto.com
or call our agents at 800-535-2002 or email at info@bavauto.com.
for me, I’m having a clunking noise in the trunk. I think it’s the rear
shock mount BUT, I also think it’s my upper rear control arm because when I
took the springs out, there is a lot of play with the upper rear control
arm and I can push it down easily and there is no resistance to it.
Thank You Very Much!! BavarianAuto For All EXELLENTS Videos.
Thanks it was very easy job and anti seize help a lot to make it easy your
videos are very helpful
Nice video, why did you change the sway bar? the old one looked fine.. Also
can you use silicone grease on the bushings?
a question.. When I press on the accelerator (BMW 318Ci E46) I hear a very
slight clunk noise from the rear… any ideas?
Excellent video , Can I put antiseize paste on control arm bushings
(Polyurethane) during installations thanks
