HOW TO FIX SECONDARY AIR PUMP | DEMONSTRATED ON BMW
If you have to replace a secondary air pump we will recommend to watch this video. It might save you a few hundred dollars. Usually secondary air pump are very simple. There is a motor and a fan on top of it. We removed this one out of a BMW E90. However, almost all air pump are identical the way they are designed.
Once we fixed it worked great.

the check valve went bad for this system which allowed for water to enter the pump, great fix but eventually the same problem will occur later on down the road, which only matters if your planning on keeping the car.
