Hi Mike, May I know how much this window cover cost and where I can buy it? Please reply soon. Very helpful video. Thanks a lot.

John Hardwick says:

Mike does this apply to ALL of the similar material around the windows on both sides of the vehicle? Great video!

John Hardwick says:

I had NO clue! I did think it was an integral seal for the window. Something so tiny, yet one could have a great paint/wax/detail done, and up close it looks terrible! Thanks man!

Useing that metal scraper is making me cringe i can picture you slipping and a mice paint scratch

Mike Williams says:

thanks.

the front is very similar. but just a single strip across the top.

Yes i did “knead” or roll it into place. no soapy water required.

ConspiracyToCommitX says:

Hi Mike, do you know if the same applies to the front windshield? Also, it looked like you kneaded it into the channel/slot Dry, or did you use soapy water? Exc Vid!!!

idrisMad says:

aww that’s great, talked with the guys from bavauto they told no problem you can do it your self in 45min ,called the BMW asked they nope that can’t be done you can pull off the old cover but to put back new you need to pull off the windshield like get a new one?,?!!!!??? reealy ,..thanks for this video helped a lot thank you!!!!!

Mike Williams says:

Is is just replacing the “seal” which is really just a cover. The window seal is down a lot deeper. I did not replace the window.

btakilla says:

Hi, my rear window seal on my e60 m5 is cracking too, this video is just for replacing the old cracked seal with a new one? Or did you also remove the rear window and put a new one in place, sorry for the confusion? thanks

Going to tackle this in the morning, nice DIY !

Mike Williams says:

Thanks… yes mine was tarry also and that is why I found the goop off useful to clean those tarry spots out of the channel.

Franco Maras says:

Great video!. Good timing also, as I received the window cover during the week and was ready to replace it today.

The switch is now done with the most time consuming part trying to find a plastic tool to go under the glass. I ended up using a hanger with tape on the end.

A note; on my 2004 E60 the the bottom layer of the original cover was quite soft and almost tarry. Any pieces dropping to the ground melted to the concrete. I did not expect this.
