Victor Principe says:

I have a 2002 volkswagen beetle that is giving me a MAF code. I changed the
MAF with a new one code. I was told that if there is any air leaks around
the air filter box or any of the hoses were not seated right and are
drawing air, it would still read a MAF code. Is this right? I could only
find one hose with a bad plastic clip that is suppose to hold the hose to
the air filter box.

Steve Haukdahl says:

BMW told me (after they charged me $100 for diagnostics) that I need a
secondary air hfm sensor. Mine is an E53 engine, is it the same thing as
you did here? Thanks

Viktoras Freigofas says:

hey man what scanner do you use??? link would be well appreciated :)

Sharjeel Ahmed says:

When I reconnect the MAF Connection, are there any steps on dc the battery
or such so I avoid the Check engine light? or will the check the engine
light do its thing once I connect the MAF and start my car normally?
Thanks

akuma184 says:

Thank you for posting. It was easy to remove the MAF after watching the
video. The dealer wanted to charge me $160 for installation and $525 for
the MAF Sensor. I purchased the same OEM sensor from ebay at $250 and now
the installation was free.

christian berry says:

I dont know if this has anything to do with this vid but u have a 01 bmw
325 xi port edition car is absolutly mint.B ut i was having problems it
would stall sometimes or hard sterts bought cam sensor didnt work went
advancerd auto parts spent 3 dollars and some change for gas treatment car
rips never had a problem this fucking ethanol is a killer.

LaNovia Entertainment says:

Ok Thanx and good luck!

lightdark101 says:

@MKitson Yes, i have already done that and edited the video, i just need to
upload it. It will be up this week!

john karas says:

Thanks for the vid!!! Would the process be the same for a BMW e53

Julio Sequeira says:

I jost broke mine :/ Lol

Farhan Silat says:

would the SES light go away itself after the cleaning or do we have to
reset it?

MKitson says:

@lightdark101 Nice one! I’ll be checking that out!

lightdark101 says:

@yianni81833 Yes it is! Just make sure your spraying the MAF and not
something else

lightdark101 says:

It did for a while but what was throwing the codes was a failing secondary
air pump or valve and also a small tiny gas leak from the fuel cap.. But
i’m currently dealing with subframe failure

lightdark101 says:

@kakia17 Yes, it did but just by a little and better throttle and engine
responds/power. But in this type of time in the economy, you need every MPG
you can get =/

markshreideri says:

@lightdark101 mine is 320d and should run 1000 kms in the city as most ppl
tell me, mine does 800 :S there are two things remaining i can do about my
car in order to reach that mileage, clean/replace maf and replace
thermostat, it needs like 30-40 minutes to heat up the water to reach the
opimal temperature

Parker W says:

PASSED MY EMISSIONS TEST THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Jacques Croibien says:

Thank you! I’ll do this on my 325ci!!!

lightdark101 says:

@kakia17 Another is your car’s weight, like getting rid of un-needed junk
in the trunk/car. Your car’s tire if its properly inflated at the right PSI
along with your alignment. Sometimes the small unnoticed things are the
ones that drag you down But i do agree with your approach too..

Irfan Khan says:

Hi I have a BMW 320d it loses power in high gears. Could it be the MAF? I
have a 4 pin connection.

lightdark101 says:

1.) I was getting a fuel control code because it sometimes running lean or
rich and going back and forward… Which lead me to a dirty/faulty MAF 2.)
I never heard of ppl using brake cleaner for clean MAF… But i knew they
sold cleaner that are meant for MAF cleaning only since we are dealing with
sensitive electronics… I don’t know anything or much about using break
cleaner as a subsitue nor support since they’re many variables that could
go wrong

onDishez says:

Same for e46 M3?

markshreideri says:

did it improve mileage/reduce fuel consumption?

lalo paez says:

bro nice video!

MKitson says:

Great vid mate! Only thing to add, personally I would let it dry for more
like 60 mins, rather than 3-5.

lightdark101 says:

@rosidus Making a DIY On that also! It will be out soon!

kennedy19841 says:

i have the following codes on ma car: 1.signal,air mass flow sensor
2.insufficient heat output,oxygen sensor behind catalytic converter,bank 2
3.insufficient heat output,oxygen sensor behind catalytic converter,bank 1
4.catalytic converter efficiency, bank 1 What do they mean?

LaNovia Entertainment says:

Thanx for the quick reply. I take it your Bimmer ran smooth again after
cleaning the MAF?

Balboa Theory says:

Hi I have a e46 m43 do I really have to take air box off to get sensor out
? Is it safe to just pull it out if I can without air box removal? Cheers

lightdark101 says:

@MKitson Thank you, i forgot to make that annotation since its a quick dry
spray

LaNovia Entertainment says:

Great and very useful video. I just have two questions. 1. what problems
made you want to clean the MAF? 2. Some pple suggested break cleaner
instead of MAF cleaner? Do you agree?

Tahsin Alom Chowdhury says:

Would carb cleaner work?

ThSniperFail says:

Yes!!! The impossible game music

msharif911 says:

Nice one! I am doing this tomorrow.

aurangzib asefi says:

DUDE YOU SOUND JUST LIKE ME WHEN IM RECORDED LOOK AT MY VIDEOS !!!!

MKitson says:

@lightdark101 Do you know how to clean Idle Control Valve and the Throttle
Body? If so, would you consider doing a similar vid for those?

sr kseries says:

maf could also be related

nicky69g1 says:

you are a legend. Thank you for the guide, will be doing this at the
weekend!

lekkousa says:

I noticed you are using K&N filter, that is the source of you MAF problem.
OIl from the filter is big problem with MAF sensors, I would never use a
K&N or similar filter, they are crap. THanks for the video, good job.
