Applies to 6 cylinder cars. V8’s may have a slightly larger CV diameter and getting the bolts back in may be an issue.

Hey thanks for the great video. I have a noob question: Can you remove the
hub + bearing simultaneously or do they have to be pressed out
individually? I’m thinking that getting a new hub+bearing already pressed
in would make this easier or am I missing something? Thanks again for the
great video.

Gregg Balser says:

Yes you can get a new hub and bearing to make it much easier. Would be just
about like doing a front bearing.

Andrew Jackson says:

thanks..i’ll try it again after work tommorow..i’ve given up for the
day..even with my garage door closed i’m sure i was annoying the heck out
of my neighbors 🙂

Your welcome.

Gregg Balser says:

The axle doesn’t have to go back very far. You basically just want to make
sure that is is not seized in the hub. You have to hit the flange pretty
hard with the slide hammer. Just keep at it. The slide hammer i rented was
like a 10 pounder. HIT IT HARD.

Andrew Jackson says:

don’t have an air hammer to push the half shaft back in, but my big ass
hammer seems to be working….do i have to push it all the way back in to
the point that it’s loose? i’ve hit it like 30 times with the slide hammer
and still no go…2006 bmw 750i by the way.
