could it cause the car to lose power and make it go into some kind of safemode, my waterpump is about to die and wondering if the waterpump about to die could be the reason for it?

The dealer is doing this on my X1 tomorrow…. so thankful for CPO! Looks doable on the ground, though. Just fiddly.

Also, you can tap on the screen while filming to focus on whatever subject you want! No need to wait for the camera to autofocus. 🙂 Takes balls to wear an Apple Watch while wrenching!

Would it be pretty much the same for an N55 X3?

Hey man,
I replaced my waterpump and thermostat on my 2013 335 xdrive last week. Working on ramps. Had to bring the fan up and then drop the intercooler. Royal PITA to remove the three torx bolts that held the water pump to the block (No room whatsoever- bottom bolt with a little wrench, one with a 1/4 socket one tooth at a time, one w/ a 6" extension). EVERY SINGLE hose was seized on. Took me a half hour to find a bolt dropped on top of the subframe! Found a dead, crispy frog?? 7 hours later- VICTORY!!!!! Thanks for the video! Your video was quite helpful in saving me $1000! You rock!

Hey how do u tell if a water pump in 2012 BMW X5 is bad? When I was driving around at about 70f sometime the radiator fan will kick in and run for 4-5 seconds at max speed and restore to normal. This will repeat Every 2-5 min. The car have a n55 and 66070 miles on it.

Shantelle Adeline says:

great to see that… I made it too. Using inplix handbooks 🙂

Great video. Saved us a lot of time and grief.

Tommy Andrews says:

Pulled a water pump from an M54 engine one time. One of the easiest jobs I ever did on the motor. Located right in front of the engine and is belt driven. Only thing you really needed to remove to gain access to the pump was to remove the clutch fan.

Thanks, very detailed and helpful video

Alex Meder says:

Would this be the same procedure for a 2010 535xi?

Neil Rampersad says:

I did this repair on my 2012 BMW X5 and I pulled the waterpump from the side of the engine, after removing the engine mount and jacking it up, this is so much easier, I wish I saw this video before..
