I just got a dealership job for diesel. Honestly didn’t even wanna do diesel but it was really good deal. Don’t really have to buy much more tools. Also dealers least the one I’m at now is a whole lot better ran than independent shops.

I’m an illegal and I have 3 years of mechanical experience/ diagnostic/ engine work/ I know my way around cars/trucks/v8/v6/4bangers etc. I get paid 14 an hour as of right now, I love my job tbh I do have ups and downs obv but do you think they will hire me at a dealership? Even with no diploma,ged, social, just a ITIN and my name and age. I’m 19 and I’ve been here in the us for 18 years. And yea I have my own tools. Cornwell 7drawer service cart, my own snap on ethos+ scanner and impacts of all sizes and all hand tools and still purchasing. I never went to school for auto technician I just have learned everything from experience and self teaching.

If dealers want to goodwill warranty shit, they can still do so by absorbing the true labor cost of the job under the warranty THEY FUCKING LAID OUT
Once changed the plugs on a GT86, for the grand total of…. 12 Dollars in wages. Because the service manager had promised a fixed price. not knowing the price of either the plugs or the "fun" og doing plugs on a Boxer
So if you use a warranty the mechanic doesn’t get paid?
If a company is always hiring, that also means they are either always firing or people are always leaving. There are reasons that revolving door exists.
All mechanics working at dealerships should be decalred as armed robbers that's a felony.
