This is pretty much the same procedure for the e36 as well.

Replaced mine in my 2009 X3 right after I got it. Been driving stick shifts for 40+ years but I could never get used to the delay. The clutch is much more predictable with the punched out valve.

afaik the modified cdv is not necessary…. (at least not on a bmw z4)
The flexible hose coupling fits just as well on the steel pipe coupling, so you don’t have to get a modified valve.

Get the valve from Zeckhausen, a US-based company…just Google the name. They send the part worldwide, no probs. Well worth doing!
