Serge R says:

still the best car

Chris Thompson says:

Had this exact problem, turned out to be the steering angle sensor. It was
tough for the dealer to diagnose

Tonio Schembri says:

hi there , i have the same problem with the 4x4lights coming on, can you
please send me a link to where i can buy the part online. thanks!

Qui1023 says:

Mine started sputtering after a local mechanic looked at transfer case, and
stalled everytime I came to a stop. Why stall????

aubattler says:

awesome video, thanks. Fixed my issue in 2 hours, just swapped the plastic
gear

Rashawn Perry says:

Thank you so much, my husband and I are having the same problem with our
x3. You just saved us a lot of money. thank you, thank you.

Very helpful I just got a used bmw x3 it has not been 3 months yet and all
three lights came on.I did some research and tried doing it myself last
night and had to stop because I didn’t know enough about the bmw. I am
going to try again today thanks to your helpful video. I hope it works. I
do have one question can you just disconnect the wires and drive it like
that if you don’t use the 4×4?

fendidog says:

Thank you for the video – get this took it to my BMW dealer, and said it
was a 7000.00 fix.

Tim Christy says:

Hey Brian, thanks for another excellent vid!
Just wanted to let you know (in case someone hasn’t mentioned it already)
that the passenger mirror can be selected to drop while in reverse or not.
It’s controlled by the mirror selector switch. If you have it one the
drivers side, it won’t drop. If it’s on the pass side, it will drop. This
is how it works on my wife’s 04 X3.

Harman D says:

Thank u for this video. I have the 4×4 warning light on my 2004 bmw x3
also. When i turn on and off the car i go underneath the car and dont here
that clicking noise like i did in this video but its more of a air release
sound. Like “pshhh”

Dan Drelich says:

Brian,
Thanks so much! By following your directions, I was able to remove the
motor assembly and replace with little trouble. (Holding the transfer case
up while replacing the cross member was a bit difficult.) Also, followed
the odometer gear guy’s directions and replaced just the gear….saved
about $650 over buying a new motor assembly.

99pshea says:

I had these exact issues and ordered the part and had it installed by my
mechanic. The lights are still on though…wondering if its another
issue? Or if the indicator lights need to be reset to eliminate the error
code?

briansmobile1 says:

Cool. You CAN say youtube (dot) com. That will post.

Upallnight says:

That is worth at least a Ulysses S. Grant. People will buy anything
including old car parts.

Alexis P says:

Hello excellent video, a question: can you tell me where you bought the
servo, I’m in Chile and here they sell it at U.S. $ 1,800, you could help
me, I would be very grateful Regards, Alexis de Chile

CP240sx says:

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why so many people think BMWs are
such great cars and SUVs. They are loaded with plastic parts which fail way
before they should and it costs a small fortune to fix all the things that
go wrong with them. Give me a zero maitenance Nissan any day. I don’t need
to impress people by driving German cars. They aren’t worth the money.

briansmobile1 says:

WINNER!!!!

briansmobile1 says:

Amen to that one!

briansmobile1 says:

If you have the back of the vehicle is raised the fluid will collect at the
front of the T.C. and won’t spill out. The spill plug concept only works
when the vehicle is level.

thekidap says:

You are the man! “Thank you internet”.

briansmobile1 says:

Stability control and ABS function are compromised so you’re skill as a
driver judgment is now your source of safety.

Chuck Kremer says:

Hey Brian… Thanks for the video. Question… I have an ’05 X3 3.0. I
changed the transfer case fluid. I got almost exactly .69 liters out
(that’s supposedly the capacity). I was expecting that when I filled it it
would start running out the fill hole @ .69 liters but it didn’t and seemed
like it could more. What do you think, should I fill until it runs out or
stop at .69 liters? Also, I’ve been hearing some noise (from I’m pretty
sure the TC) when I start it cold. GM Tranny. Switch motor? Tx.

briansmobile1 says:

I bought the new complete unit from the local BMW dealership. I don’t know
the name etc.

BlockParty says:

I agree.. I love my Maxima.

You’re welcome!
