Tried the “pull up, push in, and gently wiggle back” and still broke the
clips. Poor design as the slots on my car were not angled to accommodate
the “lift up and change the angle” maneuver.

@scottjhicks1 That’s a great idea. Thanks for posting that.

briansmobile1 says:

“I hate” You? WHO? ARE? YOOOOU?! Exacitally….

briansmobile1 says:

@pberglin Close, but it’s those engineers bent on selling parts that only
come from the dealer that make factory line assembly easy
andrepairshardercuztheywannanewyahtopickupchickscuztheyhavesmallpeepeesand

Inga4020 says:

@briansmobile1 Mazda lost a phenominal Tech when they let you wander away.
Great stuff Brian…I learn so much watching your vid’s and it helps me
alot in my job on a parts counter. Thank you for all you do teaching
us….you are awesome : )

Chris W says:

I have a 330xi 2001 , and all of a sudden my seat wouldnt move back and
forth , moves up and down and lumbar works fine, do you have any idea how i
can fix this?! you would be a huge help if you could help. Thanks

kenman1717 says:

that was helpful. even thought i work at a chev dealer, and never work on
bmw, the whole part about removing that panel, uncliping, tilting, pushing
in, wiggling out, that works for so much stuff. your stuff is awesome. are
you a licensed tech? it looks like you do alot of stuff at your own shop,
do you work for yourself?

deltsig78 says:

Curious if the seat heater is also connected? About 3 months ago my power
seat and seat heater both stopped working at the same time? Any advise
would be appreciated!

Shain Rochester says:

A temporary way to get the seat adjusted until the relays can be replaced
is to take the plugs loose under the seat and use a 12VDC battery with some
alligator clips. Connect the clips directly to the plug pins on the seat
motors and they’ll move. If they move that will tell you if the relays are
bad for sure. The plug in the back to lean the seat back/forward is almost
impossible to reach though up and down and front and back are fairly
accessable. This is no fix but it’ll help in a pinch.

briansmobile1 says:

Could be the body control module.

tudipovics says:

I’m sorry but this is not a how to fix it video.. Because everybody can buy
a new controller, and maybe everybody can change it. Before i watch this
video i thought is a real solution for the controller fault.

PWRSTR0KER2008 says:

Thanks for the vid Brian! Just curious, what is your opinion of BMW’s? I
want to get one in the near future, but honestly don’t know too many
problems with them. I don’t work on the Mercedes, or BMW’s. Well, I’ve
worked on a few of the old diesel benz, but thats it. Just wondering if
they are terribly unreliable.

Curt Simshauser says:

Neeever eeeeever had that problem. Lmao

briansmobile1 says:

Welcome David!

deltsig78 says:

I should also say it is on a 2006 330i, not sure if maybe a bad wiring
harness possibly?

juan chucky salazar says:

i have a 1997 bmw and im havn the same problem ? do u think its the same
issue ?

diegoperalta10 says:

wow very awesome video .. Thank you so much Bro … you get me out of the
hole!!!!!!!!! 😉

sbab83 says:

@PWRSTR0KER2008 BMW’s are one of the worst cars I have ever experienced.
They are just so poorly designed, it only leads to VERY expensive problems.
They are not very reliable in recent times, and I don’t feel that you get
what you pay for at all. I hate the disconnected feeling when I drove a 3
series once. The fact that my grandfathers BMW had to have the moon roof
“reprogrammed” is proof enough of the absurd overengineering. And that’s
just the tip of the iceberg. Not enough room to list.

briansmobile1 says:

@PWRSTR0KER2008 You’re welcome- I always love and respect your feedback.
I’ve worked on, prepped for crashing, and fixed enough BMW’s and Mercedes
to know that I’m a BMW man by far. BMW’s you get what you pay for. No more.
No less. However, I have very little experience on the diesel Mercedes-
what’s your opinion on them?

briansmobile1 says:

@Inga4020 You’re welcome. I’m in my mid 30’s now, I started with my dad
(against my will) when I was 8yrs old. I didn’t care for it till I was 11
and could start driving etc. Love it now. On vacation I start looking for
people to rescue ; ) I’ve rescued people in Scotland, Cancuun, Nepal, and
Canada. he he he.

john smith says:

I am having an issue on my BMW X5 2003 seat memory does not work and the
steering adjuster does not work, everything else works fine, any ideas?

pberglin says:

Plastic tabs for snap in pieces are created by the DEVIL, lol.

zipidydodazipidyyea says:

I have a 2002 BMW M3… my car had the same fault as was shown in the
video. You may have a broken wire and it will exhibit the same symptoms.
The motor wires are too short to prevent wire breaks and it is likely going
to occur if rear seat is accessed frequently. Also, the module didn’t come
off the seat as easy as he mentioned. One of the last two tabs is
accessible from the back side of the module at the joint where the seat
meats the back. Use a flat head to detach the tab.

David Vaughan says:

I have this exact problem and am thrilled at learning the fix. Had no idea
where to start. Thanks!!!!!

briansmobile1 says:

@CURBECK Well, you’re a lucky man. Cuz it’s hard to git out!

Tareq Abujaber says:

any more. Also the lights in the passenger seats in the rear have these
covers for the lamps but the clips broke and I dont know where to get this
part. Please help me out guys

Shain Rochester says:

my 2000 323ci is stuck all the way back and leaned all the way back and
will NOT budge. The fuse is fine. It would move back each time but not
forward until it ran all the way back. Im so frustrated with this thing.
How do you get the t20 screw out if its all the way back? thanks Man.

Scott Hicks says:

I am a BMW Tech and I have helpful hint on how to access those 2 hidden
clips/tabs. I just my streamlight pen light and put it between the seat and
the trim to see where the clips are and then I use a small clip tool or
small flap head screwdriver with a slight bend at the end, I made, to press
down on the taps while pulling out on the trim, they usually just pop out
at that point, but you must hold them out while doing the same to the other
one. Works great for me, hope it helps you.

kenman1717 says:

@briansmobile1 oh cool. i’ve always wanted to open my own shop. any time i
was laid off in the past i always worked out of my uncles barn, had an air
compressor, torches, welders, jacks, and so many tools i didn’t know what
to do with. it was great i was my own boss, i actually fixed stuff, not
just a parts replacer. another 3 months and i should be licensed, then i
may think about going out on my own.

briansmobile1 says:

@surfingbullet17 Ask scottjhicks1 here on youtube. It may likely be a relay
in the module like this one, or a bad Fore-aft motor.

briansmobile1 says:

@kenman1717 Ya I’m certified. The Mazda dealership I was working at went
under so I went independent.
