I have an 07 328xi and was wondering whether gauges were an option. My BMW
only shows mpg estimate and not oil temp, also you have increments on your
tach which I do not have. Just wondering.

Thank you. This video saved me a lot of money.

Absolutely hate the new BMW oil cartridge filter. The trapped metal
shavings and particles in the pleated filter will drain back into the oil
sump. What is the point of trapping these debris in the filter media in the
first place and have it drained back into the engine ? Toyota have a
smarter design in which the cartridge is placed upside down with a drain
plug built-in on the filter cover and the dirty oil drained out BEFORE the
cartridge is removed. It is not as easily accessible as the BMW filter
cartridge, but then you don’t introduce the trapped debris back into the
engine oil sump.

Hi Froggy, terrific videos. Love the bimmer and corvette sections as I have
both. I recently purchased an 08 550 and it’s terrific. Transmission is
acting up, shifting hard and sputtering. I purchased a new filter assembly
and fluid from Bavarian auto but ran into an issue when I went to remove
the fill plug on the side of the trans. It was totally rounded off. 8mm
hex. I was curious what you might try if you ran into this situation. Can’t
get the fill plug out, so I’m having difficulties changing the fluid. I
think the exhaust would need to come out in order to try a tap or a cut off
wheel to get a flat head into it. Would you suggest anything else that I
might try on jack stands? Thanks for all your terrific videos!!!!

Thank You Froggy I just bought my first BMW and the manual asked to check
the oil level every time you refuel and I went over to the engine to look
for the dipstick and nowhere to be found. I kept on reading all the manual
to find out about checking the oil and actually never found it.
I was getting mad about because I thought I had to go to the dealer to have
them check it. I was confused till you mention the electronic dipstick
which I agree I can go bad and will give you a message that might be just
confusing at the beginning.
I actually fund the reset button and the oil check button right in the
middle of all my cluster panel up the steering wheel column. They had tiny
marks that for sure I could not see if I did not look for them. I have a
2006 Z4.
Thank you so much you were really helpful.

I know this is such a beginners question but I keep getting different
answers, how often should I do an oil change on a 328i sedan, I heard since
it uses synthetic oil I could wait longer than every three months (3k miles)
