How do you exactly remove that red connector? I can’t quite get it to loosen up and unseat and remove with a flat head screw driver.

iolite1 says:

I’m had the same situation happen to me, had to pull the fuel pump fuse to kill the car.

Diana Cruz says:

I am like so sorry for this silly question? I tried removing the tumbler and it wouldn’t come out not sure if I was doing it correct or not. But my question is I seen you had remove a lot of the parts to the steering. Do I have to remove those same parts? I have a 1995 740il. I turned the car on at the pharmacy and when I got home the key just kept spinning so I removed the fuse to the fuel injector and UN plugged the battery. Do you think I need a new ignition or can I reset it?

59donuts says:

What if the tumbler around is spinning but the lock on the inside is stuck and I can’t move it too position 2? How would I remove it?

Ilia Ulianitsky says:

Hello, does the screw need to go in after putting the new tumbler, or is it a fix instead of buying the new tumbler

Daniel Fonseca says:

Miller Good evening, my name is Daniel and I am Portuguese, I have a BMW 320D 2001, I have a problem with my driver side turn signals, I do flashes to the left but the light only works from the front of the car, side and rear does not work, since I removed the bulb side and rear but are good and it took the bulbs but it works the same as the bulbs had.
Will you help me?
A hug from Portugal.

Suzanne Rounds says:

Ok, I’m having the same problem as Cheryl Hudson, removed old cylinder. Replacement cylinder looks exactly the same but it just won’t “catch” when I try to install the new one.

Suzanne Rounds says:

OK, I got the ignition out and now can’t get the new one to go in following video exactly, could there be another problem?

flexyruler says:

I have a 95 318i that had the same problem. I would recommend fixing it now. I waited till it finally broke I could not get the cylinder out then. I had to call a lock smith to get it out. Save yourself some money. It will break eventually. I also have the same issue with the car not wanting to turn over. Just pull the key out and put it back in. It appears the EWS system does not always recognize the key chip as fast as we run now days. Hope this helps

Hello.I have bmw 730ia e38 1995.My ignition s turning empty position all the time.I cant get position 1 or 2 easly. Can it be the same problem?should I change it or something other?

SteelCornicopia says:

After replacing my bad ignition tumbler, after further investigation, I realized that I also had a bad steering lock, which probably snapped when I was applying too much pressure on the spindle when I was trying to figure out the tumbler problem! One of the metal pieces of the steering lock mechanism broke, and that loose piece was interfering with the action of the steering lock. I used a chisel to turn the bolt heads. I also removed the steering lock components to allow the tumbler to turn.
