Thank you for the great comment 🙂 I would take it off and have a look. The grommets that hold the emblem down may have come loose. You can actually purchase the grommets from BMW. It should be pretty inexpensive. They just push into place and hold the emblem in place. The part number is 51141807495 on X5 E53. Double check the part number for your vehicle but I suspect it is the same. If the emblem is still good you may be able to re-use it with only replacing the grommets 🙂

🙂 Ebay would be best. There are a lot of sellers in the range of $8-12 Let me know how the compressor repair goes.

Most of the paint on the hood emblem of our X5 has cracked off. I don’t know if it was hit by rocks or what. I’ve had more rocks fly up & hit this vehicle than any other vehicle I’ve ever driven. Everywhere we looked a couple months ago they were on back order. When we finish the important repairs I’d like to get one. Do you know of a place that has them in stock & approximately how much we should have to pay for one? Thanks!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Its time to change it for my e39 since the original emblem faded to complete white. Thanks a lot for the video and it is very helpful.

Not if you use plastic tools as shown that are available at most hardware stores. You can also use a towel under the tool for leverage. The tape is added protection as well. Been doing this a long time and never have scratched the paint myself.

I think this method scratches the paint! doesnt it?

Good advice 🙂 I think I see the other posting.

hey my friend, how is it going? I did this job a couple months back. I forgot to buy new grommets and the ones were loose and no longer snug. So I used silicone around the back of the emblem. One caveat, I would not do this in the sun, because the rubber grommet will expand so very difficult to pry it out. By the way, have you looked up the VIN I sent you? No rush…just curious. Thanks my friend.
