Hello, friends it is problem to find good parts on junkyards in US, lets
say head lamps etc for e39?
would replacing the entire headlight “lens” instead of doing this?
Cannot see any mention of the fact that you are removing the original
UV-protect coating – and not replacing it with anything ? Unprotected
plastic will surely yellow/deteriorate much more rapidly when it is minus
the original coating ?
Seems pretty well! Lol!
With a lot of elbow grease you should be able to get the same result! I
learned that one! But it was well worth it in the end!
From the Netherlands: Great stuff really appreciated! The lights of my 530i
look bad so when I’m ready for it I’ll give it a try.
Thank you! We try!
Looks great,you fancy doing mine??
I bought mine from an Ebay seller. You can refer to our “BMW E39 LED Angel
Eyes Upgrade” video for more details of the process!
a better way is to apply clear coat after wet sanding if you know how to,
cause the compound will eventually come off.
What Led lights do you have and where did you get them?
Thank you! I think before trying another method, you should go back through
all your grits, put a lot of extra effort and time into yours. Do it right.
I’ve done many projects incorrectly the first time, and I realize how much
it sucks to have to go back and redo your past work, but it’s something
that needs to be done. You should have a car that represents it’s owner.
Don’t let your image be tarnished by your dirty headlights. Good luck! Get
them looking great!
Nice video! You did a very good job. Tried the same on my headlights, but
they were extremely bad. Couldn’t really see through the plastic at all. I
obviously didn’t put enough time into it, they still look slightly faded
and I missed a spot. Heard that Autosol works alright though, so I think
I’m gonna try that.
Very good video, very well explained. The end result was amazing! Two
Thumbs Up!
We agree! Thanks for watching.
The glass won’t get noticeably thinner with such a fine grade of sandpaper,
nothing to worry about. I don’t think just buffing them will do much, but
worth a shot. You can get to some of the inside through the holes the light
bulbs go into, but your best bet is to remove the glass. Problem is that
they are glued. Putting them in the oven and prying them open works (Unless
they are from a 2002+ something model, they can’t be opened), but I’m kinda
skeptical of getting them together properly
Haha if you wouldn’t mind paying shipping, I’d restore a set for $50. I’m
sure you were kidding, but if you weren’t my offer stands.
Will be doing that in the summer with the wax. Looks a lot better than
before!

Only company I know of that makes a product like that is Depo, check it
out. Good luck!
toothpaste did not work on my 325i
great job. I’d like to do the same on my e34 with yellow headlights. I
can’t see anything anymore when nightriding… do u think it’s gonna work ?
Someone told me that toothpaste would restore headlights, is this true?
Anyone tried to do without removing the headlights?
Looks awesome!
Sure!
Go for it! It’s a great project that vastly improves the physical
appearance of the automobile.
Thank you!
mate, i appreciate people like you a lot but what I do not understand is
why people afford to give advice to things they just guess without having a
genuine explanation for it. For example you are talking about the fact you
shouldnt go with sandpaper circular, why??? 3M has a kit that works same
way as your method and a drilling machine is attached to do all sanpapering
and polishing… so… why not circulat movement?
Yes! It can work if you haven’t got anything else that’s specifically
designed for this.
Yeah, I didn’t remove them on my E39. Just mask of the surrounding panels
carefully with tape. Just be careful not to sand down the tape and you’ll
be fine. Pretty hard to get to all of the corners without removing them
though
If you have Xenon lights originally you probably have 4300k colour
temperature, I changed mine to 6000k, looks so much better and matches my
white angel eyes rings. Its a pretty easy step to do it.
Show that s62 some love: clean that engine bay. I just finished a video
demonstrating how to do it. Takes about 15ish minutes. Keep the vids coming!
So I used this vid to help change out my high beam headlights. Little did I
know my xenon “box/plug” is blocking the right corner screw. I don’t why my
setup is more complicated but in all thanks for the vid, helped a lot.
Would imagine it’s the same process, good luck! Btw.. should you ever feel
like posting videos of your E34, you know they’re very welcome here on
E39Source! -Ryan
Yeah, you are probably right. I really need to go back and do it properly
this time. As soon as I get my new workshop set up I’ll get it done,
amazing how much clear headlights improve the cars overall look. Thanks for
the inspiration!

Very good tutorial. I’m going to try this on my e46. The lenses are fairly
clear, but feel a little rough and seem to have a few pits. My e39 Touring
just got new headlights, but I’ll remember this for the future.
I’m looking for an LED Angel Eyes Xenon for a e36 m3 ’99, any suggestions ?
This same process will work for anything on the car made out of this
plastic! It takes time, but restores them to darn-near new condition if
done right. Good luck, enjoy!
cool, thanks! About how well does it work?
Good luck! It should come out looking incredible!
