BMW E90 ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS DIY

BMW E90 ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS DIY

In this video I show you how to replace the engine (motor mounts) and transmission mounts on your BMW E90 330i. The car shown in the video is a 2006 BMW 330i with the N52 engine. This DIY is similar for other e90 models. I would recommend Corteco brand engine mounts and Lemforder brand transmission mounts.

@ShoplifeTV – I have a 2007 335i coupe with 72k miles. At what mileage am I supposed to change the engine and transmission mount? How long do the original ones typically last?

@Elliie717 says:

The video is obviously sped up so just wondering how long it takes to actually complete the process in real time?

@leonardocruz7128 says:

Thank you so much!

@TheAmericanGamerTV says:

Does no one see that the engine mount bracket bolts are broken on the passenger side? Ha, the kit I ordered from FCP came with new ones, I wonder If they replaced them during this DIY?

@johnneubeck2216 says:

Does this apply to E90 X-Drive?

@LouieXtacy says:

Just did this job. I ended up needing to remove the engine mount bracket on the passenger side to get it to sit properly. Not enough clearance from raising the engine alone. Perhaps the car wasn’t properly level or something. Anyway… I also may have cracked the radiator top housing cheers!

Great video – simple and clear – to the point. Is this a common problem ? I have a 2015 bmw328i – have hardly driven it – has 35,000 miles and the dealer said the engine and transmission mounts are broken/cracked and i have to replace – quoted a bomb. anyone knows a reliable bmw shop in houston who does this well and at a reasonable price. thanks

Also has a great video on coil overs

@JoshJones-e2x says:

Great video. Every shop I have called has told me 5hrs(1k for labor) for the job. Im so happy i watched this video

@Doobie464 says:

Torque specs?

@barrios8251 says:

Torque specs for nuts and bolts on motor mounts? We need that bro

@expr7882 says:

Hello sir. Can you show me where the reverse switch is located on the bmw e90?
Thank You

@tugrulbey3095 says:

Aware! Do NOT raise engine excessively. My N52 engine bmw ended up with broken radiator top housing. Top hose is very short and stressing radiator's top housing. Paid 170 euros for a new radiator. Sad experience. Consider dropping subframe if it seem stuck.

@georan4323 says:

When did you lower the pole jack after installing the lower nuts on the transmission mounts?

@MeeRulz says:

do these engine mounts have oil in them? i have e90 320i and i see oil leaking from passenger side engine mount and i am not sure where its coming from, i recently changed my engine oil

@abeldominguez3163 says:

Excellent and thorough video….

@jonn9103 says:

Eh, I think I would lift the engine on each side and do one side at a time. I would never lift a block via the oil pan and potentially deform it even slightly. Clearly it can be done but maybe warn people about the potential for damage as any impact on you oil pick up could be catastrophic for the bottom and top end.

Good clarity and details.

@stevensims3342 says:

When I tried to break my passenger side mount nut loose, that mfr broke loose like a gun going off. Made my ear ring. That and the lower bolts for my mounts have tiny bit of corrosion on them and as such they are really bound up trying to remove them. They spin well until it gets to the upper portion on the bolt that protrudes out of the top of the mount. Damn corrosion.

Good job beta
