Great Vid. A relative and I were just looking at his 05 325i and found
coolant dripping from just under the same sensor. Thought it might be a
hose leak. I think you called it. Sensor leak. Great info. Thanks!

Your videos (I’ve watched them all) are fantastic!!! Very detailed,
thorough and informative. Great for newbies like me that need step-by-step
instruction. PLEASE keep making more. Thanks.

Lower coolant Hose Leak is probably the sensor

T8official8T says:

I wonder if the sensor is identical to the one on a 2004 325Ci? It’s in the
exact same location. I just noticed a leak tonight and I’m eager to fix it
ASAP.

Hello, no i haven’t heard of a bimmer pipe, unless he’s talking about the
cooling pipe in the earlier models, yes this is a known problem and is very
costly if you don’t know how to fix it. They fixed this issue with the 06
and up, but the 02-05 have this problem. I’d just watch a bunch a videos
and find out how to fix it, I watched a good one the other day about this,
the guys shop wanted 1500 to fix it, you could do it yourself much much
lower.

Hey i have the same coolant leak also on a 2003 745li. Ive seen another
video on youtube that said that the coolant leak was coming from a pipe
under the intake manifold. How do i know if its just the o ring like u just
showed or if its more serious like the guy showin in his video? Btw, nice
vids!

DIYsavecash says:

Hello, The easiest thing to do is watch my video again, I show you how to
take off the manifold in video then just look below to where my o-ring is
and see if coolant is crusted down around the o-ring, I would say you
probably have this leak because it’s a known problem, but also check your
water pump while the manifold is off, (I have a video for that) it might be
a upper or lower hose leak but I think it’s the o-ring. Thanks for watching
the videos let me know what it was.

Andrew Thompson says:

well done finding an o ring that fits. I ended up with a new sensor. I
later found the o ring is listed as an e36 air intake part! These are
fantastic cars! Not usually considered DIY. However I think if you can it
will be very rewarding.

Nice job dude damn u make it look eazy my started to leak not sure wat it
is but I don’t have the time do u know more or less wat I will get charge I
know a local mechanic that used to work for bmw

DIYsavecash says:

(2nd comment response) read both my comments, hopefully that will shine
some light on the subject.

DIYsavecash says:

Hello Andrew, funny story after all that, I started to have a super loud
fan, I had just fixed the thermostat so I knew I was solid on that, my
water pump looked good, turns out because I leaked for so long as you see
in the video there’s a lot of coolant hardening, turns out the sensor went
bad and that sensor controls the fan as well. I’ll have that video up soon,
but I actually just replaced the lower hose and sensor. My cars all good
now:) Next project Guibo or water pump before it goes.
