Welcome to ShopLifeTV!
In this video I start my showing you how to take the passenger door panel off of a BMW 2001 325i. Then I show you how to replace a broken window regulator. I used the cheapest regulator on the market so that I can review it for you guys. This DIY can be used for almost all models in the E46 category.

Graham Clay Clay says:

My Back window just made a glass breaking sound now it has to be push shut

James Knight says:

I just did one of these on a 2003 BMW 320D with a £22 Amazon regulator. In view of your problems, I did not remove the bolts holding the clips to the window. I just loosened them. Also, you might notice there is some position adjustment for the regulator by moving the screws in long slots. Therefore I left these loose until I got the window engaged in the regulator, and only fully tightened them after putting the window up & down a couple of times. Also, rather than keep removing the airbag lead, I just hung it on the lock button with a zip tie while I worked.

Thank you so much for this very useful video! It saved me at least 200 euros by doing it myself. Kind regards from The Netherlands.

illsuspect says:

Why was it necessary to plug the airbag in during testing and fitment?

MikeyFraz1 says:

Wow what a pain in the ass! You’ve got the patience of a saint. Thanks for producing such a competent video.

Matthew Pham says:

Are the rear door regulators the same as the front

Aldin H says:

Prityboylu Villa says:

Thank you so much, I just changed out my passanger side window Regulator, using this video. You were 1000 percent on point. I truly appreciate excellent instructions and guidance…

Hubert Jadczak says:

If someone could probide an information how low should I lower (in centimeters) the window (e46 2001 Touring) before I dosconnect the battery, I would be sooo happy.

Uncle Joe says:

How did you do the re-initialization which is necessary after fiddling with power window components?

hpygolkyone says:

Well done. Thanks for taking one for the team on the ebay POS review.

Albert Langer says:

I am impressed at your precise instructionals, tips and warnings – especially the tip on the vapour barrier butyl heating. You're a perfectionist and I love learning from same – I am the bloke with always one bolt or screw left over. I've stuffed this buytl removal up a zillion tines in 4 decades. Never thought of a hair dryer.. I will use this video when trying to find my different problem – which is the window jamming/stopping with a metallic thud – half way down. Something is broken or hindering in there, but it is not the regulator as over time it will wind the window up. But that is a strain on the regulator, so I have to strip it per your warnings on breaking of tabs, the vapour barrier and be stocked up with correct sockets. I will do this in next month, but wondering if someone has had the same problem? of half way – then "clunk" and stoppage? I have a "Made in Taiwan" 2003 318i E46 Executive sedan (This model may not have been released in the U.S.A. (I'm down under in Australia). We did something right and gave you ACDC 🙂

blythebugger says:

Good tutorial but I'm stuck. I got to the point of needing to lower the window, but it won't move – seems like it's hitting something. I took the motor out like you suggested but the window still won't come down at all. Should I go ahead and remove all the bolts for the regulator and take the regulator out?

Christine Green says:

Nothing to do with window regulators! Do you have a video to replace the front crank oil seal?

Robert Jensen says:

You’re doing a great service for the folks who want to try doing it themselves.

Gary says:

Great video….too bad Im not about to try and DYI as I'd lose what sense I have left. It would be cheaper to have a mechanic fix it rather than me spend an hour at my therapist at $300 an hour to deal with my anxiety issues.

Anthony Slaughter says:

Don’t say don’t buy EBay regulator it’s not eBay who sells them, it the seller you bought from amazon has same seller who sell the same stuff. Don’t blame eBay for a bad seller

aumkar chandan says:

Great video as always. Process seems quite cumbersome.
