Hi! I can see on the filter box it’s a pipe that goes on the side (to the fender) I don’t have that on my 1996 E39 and I believe what you have there is a “fix” for an old issue: the air intake is quite low and I think the tube you have might provide a higher intake in some cases. I had my engine sucking water from a not so deep flood (not a catastrophic failure, luckily). Can you see if it’s just a pipe with no valves? Where does it go? I wonder if I can apply this “fix” to my air box… Thanks!

I use K&N air filters in my M5, Robert does in his other 525i, and Colton does in his 2001 540i. They’re a solid product, I think we would all recommend one to you!

We don’t have any experience with the induction kit though, at least, as of now.
