BMW E38 740i (DIY) Maintenance/Timing Chain Guide Rail Replacement

In this video, we bring the 740i out of storage and begin some much needed maintenance. Timing chain guide rails, gaskets, paint,coolant leaks, gas leaks etc.

For those who own an E39 or E38 BMW, this can be used as a great guide to perform recommended 100k mile maintenance.

Dude; I'm one of the guys who really wants to see this, (and hear it). Would be nice if you mentioned what NOT to get wet when pressure washing. What year is this? My 2001 740i E38 has different fan, alternator, etc. I had to take a break while the car was drying. Continuing on……

Improtent tip: don´t lay the Visko Fan clutch horizontal , it has all the time be in vertical position !!!! there is oil in it

Good luck with the "Jesus" bolt. It's torqued 400Nm !! That's quit a lott!!! The best you can do while the engine is still in the car is frabricating a plate with a 20"support welded on. You can take over the bolt pattern of the crank pouly. Mount this tool with the existing bolts to the crank flange and make sure the support is firm on the ground. Than impact the bolt. It shout come lose. Dont try to block the flywheel and then impact the bolt. You might destroy your crank shaft…….Good luck.
