Great video. I had tackled very few car DIY jobs prior to this one, but had no problem with this job thanks to the clear instruction. A couple of extra things. 1) I used plastic tyre levers rather than a pry tool to get the trims off – worked fine. 2) Once the regulator was in place, the window clips were at the bottom of the door. I had to reconnect the motor to move them. Could just be me.
I used this regulator (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0798GVT6M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which fitted perfectly on my E46 330D and is way cheaper than the OEM item!

I'm angry at the jerk who previously reinstalled the airbag behind the vapor barrier. That could have been bad for your passenger in a crash.

Hey 50s kids how would I know if mine needs replacing I have a 03 bmw 325i I am having problems rolling the passenger side window up when I try to roll it up I have to pull up on the window and press the window switch could that be the same thing your replacing

Al Zedder says:

you stated at 15:20 that you will show how to do the adjustment with a 10mm wrench, but I don't see that in the video. I put mine in and now it screeches really loud going up and down like it is rubbing on the window wipe molding. Thanks.

Awesome! I know I will refer back to this video a few more times before I tackle my window regulator. Your channel has been invaluable to me in my E46 repair travels. Thank you for all your hard work, time and effort you put into it.

Could just the motor itself be broken? The window on my car won't roll up and the motor makes no noise

Very helpful Video

Awesome video! I lost one of the clips for the screws that the airbag is attached. Do you know the name of that clip?

Will a e39 regulator work with the e46?

Great tutorial! In your case the cable ist damaged so you have to replace the hole regulator system. In most cases only the sliding units holding the window broke up. It was for me easy to replace one of them without taking out the complete system. Costs are about 15$. I saved time and money .
I want to say also that it will be better to replace the old sealing under the Weather sheet. It costs about 10-15€ for 6meters.

How can I determine if it’s a bad regulator or just a bad window motor? My window goes up and down but it struggles at times especially in colder weather….
