I cut out a few sequences…..I also prep’ed the bolt before using the impact.
The real time to do such a video is ~double from what you can see

Very good thanks. I’m about to fix my 1 series’s front strut. The spring has come out of the bottom holding whilst parked overnight. Very strange. Fingers crossed it will go smoothly. Thanks for the video

Dangerous bastard spring to do.

BMW 3 Series says:

2 BMW E46 Bilstein shocks
2 Dampers
2 Bellows
(might need 2 top bearings if they make noice while turning)
(might need 2 rubber gaskets between coil spring and shocks)

Sry I don’t have any part no.

David Pawlowski says:

Will you please post a parts list with OEM item #s?

BMW 3 Series says:

Nope, Bilstein is an German company located in Enneptal.
BTW you should see their factory tour video’s even though some are in German language.
They are OEM manufactures for BMW, Jaguar and Daimler as for Dacia.
Yes is has financial relations to Romania, but the shocks are manufactured in Germany.
Bilstein is just a smal part of that joint venture company ThyssenKrupp

cobrassksan says:

Very good tutorial… I want to change my original shocks with new Bilstein ones. Thank you!

BMW 3 Series says:

The Bilstein shocks are really good. I had 3 choises.
– BMW OEM
– Bilstein which I was told should be good german quality
– Mahle

OEM was just too expensive.
Mahle was too unknown to me.
So I go for the Bilstein and wow what a nice surprice. The E46 feels like riding on air. I don’t feel the bumps anymore and yet the suspension isnt soft that you lose the “feeling” with the road. Really a shock brand I can only recommend.
