I am thinkig about installing a AUX-socket, but i have a BMW 3-seris E46
2000-mod (european years), without CD-changer. So, what difference does it
make? I read about it, and I need some sort of adapter, and that should be
it, is that right?

Hi Mate! Thank you for your positive comment. Off head I’m not sure which
lead you’re referring to but if you’ve found an easier way I say go for it
🙂 – At the time I had to replace the faulty cd player and the adaptor I
had bought left me with RCA inputs. As crazy as it sounds I couldn’t source
a mountable socket other than the one from ebay. I actually wanted one I’ve
seen which is square with “AUX” above the hole but no joy there. My stereo
doesn’t have AUX mode so I went this way.

great video..whats the difference then using the one from amazon…I think
is easier….

jaypo7 says:

No problem mate! Go for it – if you’ve never done it before just pop the
thin dash panels off carefully with a screw driver (panel tool if you have
one). Then the stereo itself is held in by two screws… just pull it out
and have a look at the square loom socket at the back. Take some pics of
it. Can’t remember if I covered this bit in the video… 🙂

Thank you for your answer:) i have only single cd and the car year is 2001.
I will try to take it out to make some test if accept the input signal

jaypo7 says:

Hey Marius! Thanks for the positive words mate I appreciate it. Do you have
a CD changer in the boot of your car (same as mine)? or is it just a single
cd player headset(no cassette tape)?… Also, pop out the stereo, easy job,
and check the connectors on the back it should have the same aux port that
I have used but I cant be 100% on that without you or I checking it out as
I have the older tape headset. Let me know and I’ll try and help further.

hello great tutorial. i want to ask you if i can do this on my bmw 320d
year 2001 month4 with business cd i have mode button but when i press it i
have only radio and cd..

jaypo7 says:

Alright mate! If you have one, the CD changer is in the back of the car
behind the carpet on the left. You should see a small panel in the boot
trim to access the cd cassette to change the cd’s. I wanted a stereo aux
cable that had the nut fitting on the socket to mount it in the holder,
that was key. Like yourself, I thought it would be easy to find but at the
time I couldn’t find a reasonably priced cable as i wanted it to be, so I
made my own. Although it was fiddly it was really easy.

Dan theMan says:

Hello, I have a 2000 e46 Bmw 318i, i was wondering did you have to do
anything with the CD changer which is apperently in the back of the car?
and why didn’t you just buy a pre existing aux cable just for that job,
probs easier then soldering it. <--- these comments are made by someone who doesn't know much about this and trying to gather information. cause my FM transmitter is pissing me off

jaypo7 says:

Hope that helps, I don’t mind the questions mate fire away 🙂 – What the
problem with your FM Radio? You could just use a normal Aux cable and have
it hanging out the side of the console somewhere or fed into the glove box
but I wanted a neat tucked away socket.

jaypo7 says:

Hi mate, I bought the Aux connector from ebay from a seller called
dynamicsounds00 check out this item number 350407652950 I was supposed to
cover that in part 1 but never got round to finishing it off. Hope that
helps!
