S3 – MK7 Golf R FMIC Install DIY for Audi & VW MQB Chassis, A3/GTI

***DISCLAIMED***
My removal method is not the most “earth friendly” method. Proceed at your own discretion.

My fellow Automotive and Audi Fanatics, I welcome you to my channel for another DIY! Today, we are tackling the install of a Front Mounted Intercooler (FMIC) on the Audi S3. Even though our reference vehicle is a S3, the process is applicable for the MQB chassis such as the A3, Golf R, and MK7 GTI.

I will warn you; this DIY is tedious as there are multiple things you will need to remove or unclip. It is best to take your time and have a second set of hands. IMHO, this DIY is best performed by disconnecting the AC condenser lines. This will allow you to remove the entire support bracket without damaging your lines. It CAN be done though, with the lines in place but you risk damaging the lines.

Install time: 4-6hrs.

First item on the agenda, remove the bumper. I have a separate video which you can view here:

If you guys have any questions, please post below and I will do my best to help out. As always, thank you for watching and supporting my channel! Until the next time, this is Peter, The Audi S3 Fanatic!

Hi Peter. Did you had any fitment issues in the intake box (when the aftermarket ic was on the car)?
I think this is not a FMIC, it is located in between the condensor and the radiator.

How long did it take you total, your first time?
