you know you might be a redneck when…….
I’m doing mine right now on my 2006 passat, and my socket hex key is a 7mm, just saying……
Man you are rough ! You hit the caliper with a hammer ! You used a ‘G’ clamp as your ‘wind back tool’ – you neglected to mention that it is good practice to remove the cover from the brake fluid reservoir when pushing back the piston in a brake caliper. You don’t have to remove the carrier plate as well.
I’m sure tons of people will find this video useful without the caliber socket being mentioned (you’re on the internet right?). I like how he explained a straightforward and simple step by step process of what needs to be done. People sometimes just take too much heart at making things more complicated than they are.
Crazy and scary how you changed these brakes… Use a caliper compression tool from Autozone to compress the caliper piston, it’s like $4. Another tip is to slide a flat blade screwdriver between the floating caliper bracket, into the cooling fins on the rotor and just give it a slight wiggle. It’ll compress the caliper piston so you don’t have to beat it with a hammer. If you turn or r&r the rotors you’ll get much more life out of them if you get a clean, new surface to mate the pads against.
nice
it would be good to list the size of the caliber socket….because without it all this information is useless….and u should never hallf or tugg on the break line weither its brand new or 20 years old
what size is the socekt key part…12 mm?
“ Crazy man! Crazy “… love it
lol your funny
never hit a calipor with a hammer use a crow bar
