Fixing an Audi DIY flip key remote that won't work after replacing the battery.

We have now replaced the batteries in a number of Audi flip key remote controls, and they are particularly susceptible to losing touch with their car.

So, if you have replaced the battery in the fob and the buttons no longer work, here’s what to do to reacquaint the key fob with the vehicle.

Models covered include the A3, A4, S4, and Q3.

For help with other push button start cars and key fobs from this or other manufacturers, look for more videos here on YouTube or go to DashboardSymbols.com. And if you see the “Thanks” button below the video, please lend your support to our efforts.

Perfect, thank you. This works for 2017 Audi A4. One thing to watch out for: if your other set of keys is present you will get the message "hold back of key against marked area". Just ignore that. Take the keys that are working well away from the car and then try again following the video instructions with the keys that don't work.

so, 1. press the unlock button of the fob, 2. then insert the key to the door lock, and 3. then use the key to unlock the door once? Is the 3rd step correct? Thanks!

My fob had its battery changed. But also my key fob can unlock and lock the car. The issue is my Audi A3 car says safe mode. I can rev the engine for 1 second then it shuts off and immobilises. I am trying every solution in the book but none seem to work. Do you have experience with the safe mode issue?

@blogtwot says:

Wish I had come here weeks ago to save all the pissing around. Thank you so much.
