Repairing a DSG transmission vehicle can be difficult and expensive. This has most people wondering if the DSG transmission issues can be resolved cheaper or easier. In this video we explore the trials and tribulations we ran across while trying to fix a 7speed DSG transmission in an Audi S4 model.
While this video talks a lot about the S4 specifically a lot of the same principles would apply to many VW and Audi models that also use a DSG transmission. This would include cars like the MK5, MK6 and MK7, GTI, Jetta, CC and more.

Just bought a 17 S7 with 55k on the clock and mech unit was JUST done by Audi before I purchased so hopefully I dont have to try and tackle this anytime soon… great informative video!!!
Sounds like an endless money pit, and time sapping excercise, given it seems like the bermuda triangle of transmission issues. Give me a cold beer at the beach anyday over doing that, sure was fun to watch though.
I'm confused, I have Audi A5 7.11.2016 2.0 Tfsi S tronic Quattro keynr: 0588-BIW00018 and my S tronic Gearbox have no filter , I just ordered complete kit together with sump and everything that need to be replaced but have no filter . Is European model. I also replaced Haldex oil and didn't see any filter. Gearbox code is 0G7
Is way to fix it put a ZF gearbox in it DSG total b***** crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap
The guy with the cap is doing it Ina wrong way if you're fixing/fitting the PCBS or TCU or even any part on the gearbox,dont force the bolt fit the part then now tighten the bolt make sure the parts clicks out when fitting. Thanks all
You guys are bitting around. The problem is the TCU not even the clutches thou the clutches were worn out. Console me for DSG OB5 DL501 gearbox

I did exact same transmission oil and filter change job for 2016 A7 with TDI engine. I filled the oil without pump, and using long break hose and funnel, channeling from engine bay.
After leveling the car I started to fill the pan but only after 2.75 quarts it started spilling out from fill plug (means its filled).
It gave me doubts that only 2.75 quarts, as I was expecting 4 to 6 at least?
I just finished this job and haven't started the car yet because of this situation if it is an abnormal situation. I will start when I will feel comfortable.
Please share your experience with 2016 TDI A7 if you had any. Is it normal and I should go ahead and start the car and it will take more (4 to 5 quarts) after?
What I want to know is how hard is it to swap a DQ250 into a Q3?? I want one sooooo bad cause in theory it could be a good golf r competitor if it had a DSG in it….. seems like it would be pretty straight forward…. no??
