Hey Scotty, my mother wants to but an SUV in the 10k-12k range, but all of her options aren't good. She has decided on a 2008 Tahoe that has 130k miles on it. I keep telling her that thing would be a money pit, but she won't listen. Any advice? I'm really trying to help her get a good SUV that'll be good for her in the longrun.
P.S. She won't get anything that isn't an SUV, she's stubborn.
Instead of a recall on their cars why don’t they give each of the drivers a fire suit for 250 bucks and save money

Bought a 2012 Audi A4 back in 2012. Drove it for over 5 years with no issue, just maintain oil change.
Love/hate with my 1988 Audi 5000 turbo. Great fun to drive, repair after repair after repair. The engine and turbocharger seemed unbreakable, but almost everything else broke.
You wanna manual shift in stop and go traffic in a busy American traffic jam—I don't think so!!
On the electricity-meets-water thing-
Just wait until that salt water meets up with an exposed lithium battery cell- they’ll go through “rapid deconstruction” (meaning EXPLODE) real fast.
Winston-I meant the last car in the list(Audi) was junk. Not Beetles or Porsche. I had 2 beetles and 1 Karmann Ghia-all 3 excellent sturdy reliable drivers

Well, I can say I don't want to shift! …Away from a manual transmission, that is. I'd consider an auto-manual (though the lack of a clutch pedal would drive me batty for a while), but a full auto or CVT? No flippin' way.
Personally, I kinda wonder if maybe all the problems with bad driving we tend to see isn't a result of taking one task after another away from drivers. Automatics do the job of shifting, and we've got all kinds of "safety" tech that takes over for the driver's situational awareness… It might be kinda counter-intuitive, I guess, but maybe having all that stuff to do makes for better, or at least more aware, drivers. Without all that stuff to occupy one's attention, one finds other things unrelated tot he task of driving to occupy that attention, relying on the tech to keep you safe…and then you end up under a semi because that puddle you ran through half an hour ago shorted the sensors…
Rev up your German car unreliability
