I don’t have a video on how to do it at the minute, but I have actually
just completed a MK5 Golf install! Keep and eye out for the video, I’ll
upload it asap!

Reece Turner says:

Ahhh fair enough sound good! The only TT double din fascia that I know
about is a carbon fibre one which is pretty expensive, so what I did was I
had to cut out the plastic around the heater controls to keep the shape of
the hole, I dropped the heater controls down, there are 4 screws holding it
in, so I mounted the top ones into the bottom holes, if that makes sense. I
had to cut out the bottom where the ashtray was to make room for the
controls to sit, then I had to cut away most of the middle section under
the hole for the stereo to make an opening big enough for a tablet to fit.
Then I made a fibreglass mold of the tablet, body fillered and sanded over
and over until it was a perfect fit, then I bonded that mold into the gap,
then body fillered and sanded that to make it all one piece. I had to
relocate my stereo as I’m still running the tablet through that, and I have
a stand alone volume control in the little cubby hole to the left of the
steering wheel. Bluetooth wouldn’t be a bad way to go, would be a simple
way if you didn’t want to mess with wires etc, but it’s your call if you
wanted charging capabilities or not. Where abouts are you from by the way?
And if you’re after a gauge I’d look into getting the liquid TT digital
gauge. I’d head over to the TTforum and sign up if you haven’t already,
there are so many helpful people on there, Plus there is a lot of info
about gauges too which would help! I know my guide was brief but you sort
of get the picture, if I were you I’d go on eBay and grab a second hand
fascia and have a bash at that, as far as i can remember there is one on
there at the minute for under £10 including postage. Let me know what you
decide to do, hope what I’ve said has been of some help!

Daniel Migneault says:

Yes i do remember about those differences which you mention earlier, thanks
again for helping.

Terence Keyes says:

Nice install.. Was that the Google music app? How did you make it black? I
installed a nexus 7 in my car and use Google music but I hate the orange
color.

CKBsubs says:

how exactly do you get the tablet to say in? really looking at doing this
and very interested in doing this.

djsunproductions says:

Clean install! I just upgraded mine to the nexus 7 II witch supports
inductive charging. So I put a charger being the panel so when the pad is
in place it’s always charging. No wires at now!

Daniel Migneault says:

Would you care for a gen 1 Nexus 7?
cause i could have access to one very fast or i will be better with gen 2
or 3.

Daniel Migneault says:

Looks like you’re from Europe, a bit far from here!

shmav52 says:

Thanks for the quick reply mate, I’m pretty much clueless about cars, I had
a BMW 123d before I got the TT, had it remapped to 250 brake, I had my
nexus on the dash but just bought a cheap tpu case and stuck Velcro to the
back and a strip on the dash, simple and easy, yours looks like it came out
of the factory like it, did you have to buy a replacement fascia for where
the stereo used to be? The car came with a hands free parrot already
installed so I can use Bluetooth instead of messing about with wires, where
did you start?

Daniel Migneault says:

By the way is your OEM radio still there or completely removed?

Daniel Migneault says:

Ok i see, in my case there won’t be any passenger playing with it ;)

MyLove4Allah says:

you have a video on how you did this? man that looks badass, would love to
have this done on my golf mk5

Daniel Migneault says:

Don’t you prefer pogo pin than blue tooth? cause the clip you told me as to
be recharged after a while???

Daniel Migneault says:

I will follow your channel for sure, thanks.

Daniel Migneault says:

Hey thanks for that fast reply, really appreciate, that fiberglass tablet
install was it homemade(you) or you found it somewhere?
i’m not that good with fiberglas.;)

Daniel Migneault says:

Ok very interesting but one more thing, are you playing music true car
speakers?
which i would like to do,thanks for helping.
Dan.

Daniel Migneault says:

Wow! would it be possible to that install in my 2006 a4?

Benjamin Tang says:

From TT-froum, nice inspiring installation mate! Keep it up!

Reece Turner says:

Hey, it’s a 2012 nexus 7, I was going to get a nexus 10 to do this install
with but I’m not sure if it will fit well, I went with the nexus 7 because
I wanted to take advantage of the pogo pins on the side for charging and
audio, dimensions are Nexus 10: 263.9×177.6×8.9 mm Nexus 7 2012:
198.5×120×10.56 mm, I’m not sure if it would be too much putting the nexus
10 in, although it would be nice having it in there, if you want to know
anymore about the install just ask 🙂

shmav52 says:

Is that a nexus 10? I’ve just bought a mk1 tt and im looking yo install my
nexus 10 in it, any help would be appreciated mate

shmav52 says:

Thanks for the reply, I haven’t got a clue where to start! Did you get a
different facia from where the stereo used to be? I can connect the tablet
using blue tooth to my parrot, but I have no idea how to begin lol, also
want a boost gauge fitted into one of my air vents lol
