Audi RS3 Puncture Repair

Audi RS3 Puncture Repair

How annoying is it when you find that one of your tyres is flat or low when you get home or wake up to go to work, and you find a nail or screw in? You then try to magically remember any place you went to that you could have accidentally run over it, and then start to question if someone did it deliberately! And then there’s the thought of who do I take it to, how will this inconvenience me, and it’s all just a bit much…

THERE IS A SOLUTION!

Unfortunately the roads in most places are flooded with debris and tyres are fantastic at resisting most things so you wont even know you have run over them…

In this episode, I run through the simple process of repairing your tyre using a puncture repair kit that you can find at many auto parts stores, and also some service stations (Servos if you’re Aussie!)

NOTE: This is a temporary solution and considered unroadworthy but it will get you out of trouble to be able to get it properly repaired or replaced by a workshop! The tyres on this vehicle have been used for display purposes and have been replaced as they were already worn out on the outer edges.

Something that my dad taught me, and something I learnt in further detail throughout my apprenticeship as a mechanic years ago about how workshops do it with a different style plug that requires removing the tyre from the rim. Don’t worry, its nothing that wild, you can repair it from the outside, and these will last the lifetime of the tyre!

Some people will say these are not a good repair option, but in my experience, I have repaired my own tyres, and done track days going over 200km/h and throwing the car through corners full heat, and not had a single issue!

Let me know your experiences in the comments if you have any where you’ve gotten yourself out of a sticky situation with a punctured tyre and you didn’t have a spare onboard!
